We have driven it almost every day on short trips and cross country until about a week ago. About a year ago, we decided to stop fixing minor things and save our money for a new van. Here is a list of things I would like to fix if were were going to keep it. We really love this van and it has been a hard decision to let it go. PLEASE DO NOT BID ON THIS VAN UNLESS YOU HAVE THE MEANS OR THE ABILITY TO FIX IT. THIS IS NOT A VAN FOR A LARGE FAMILY WITH NO MECHANICAL SKILLS. IT NEEDS WORK. THIS CAN BE A VERY NICE VAN FOR SOMEONE THAT IS MECHANICALLY INCLINED OR IS WILLING TO INVEST THE TIME TO FIX ALL THE LITTLE PROBLEMS. Engine: · One of the cylinders leaks oil - this has not been a big problem. We just add a quart of oil every couple of months. · Crack on top of radiator. This has not been a big problem until recently. It has got to the point where we have to add water after a 15 minute trip. You need to fix this immediately. · Heater core leaks. This makes driving the van unsafe. The inside window fogs up. If there is antifreeze in the radiator, it leaves a greasy film. Recently with the radiator crack, there has been only water in the radiator. The defroster usually takes care of the fog. You need to fix this immediately. Suspension: · Needs front end alignment (and new ball joints on both sides) Body: · Back right door needs replacement (backed out of garage with door open) · Running boards are cracked on both sides · Rear bumper cover is gone. · There is a dent in the bumper (from backing into trees and things) · Needs paint job – no amount of washing can make it shine · Back hub caps are missing (both sides) · Needs bulbs or new opera lights on the sides near windows Interior: · Most of the seats need repair (some minor, some less minor) o Most of the back captain's chairs have ripped leather, one of the head rests is loose, and two of the captain's chairs are missing an arm (we have them, they just need to be re-attached· Driver’s seat does not move (perhaps a motor repair) · TV/VCR/DVD/GAME system needs a fuse or something o Analog TV antenna is useless – needs a digital converter box (or new TV) · Moon lights need a fuse or switch or a new bulb (fiber optic distribution system) · Carpet is ok, but could use updating · Missing some window shades · Interior door panels are cracked and could be replaced · Passenger door lock sometimes sticks when you press lock button or key fob button. · Some of the rear cup holders are missing · The bar area is missing the bottle holders (broken – why would you step on it?!) · Back seat/bed blows a fuse very easily when moved or reclined. · New Stereo (2010?) would sound a lot better with new speakers · Headliner ripped near TV · Overdrive button is missing a trim piece · Some of the power ports (cigarette lighter) are missing their cover · Rear reading lamp is missing, but the flexible stem is still there. · Headphone jacks have been rewired and do not work as buttons suggest. · Original wooden custom center console has been replaced by standard plastic console, but we have the original if you want it. It is too big for our tastes and the roll top cover is in bad shape. Other Systems: · Air bag light is on all the time · A/C needs to be charged – not quite up to standard on very hot days o Rear A/C is not blowing as hard as it used to blow o A/C clutch is damaged · The bright lights are not as bright as we would like. New high intensity bulbs, lens polishing, and a new heavy duty alternator helped some, but not enough. Tires One good tire. Spare has some dry rot. Ding. The van dings 25 times in a row on some days. On the days that it does this, it does it about every 30 minutes. There may be other issues that I am not aware of, but this what I know today. I have no idea what this van is worth. KBB has a 1997 E-350 XL with these options priced at $3886 (top of range). But this is a Seven O Seven conversion van, not an XL so it is probably worth a good deal more than that... except that it has those problems listed in the ad. I will let the market tell me what it is worth and I will be happy to sell it to the highest bidder even if there are no more bids (current bid is $520). - e8ooks
