Vehicle Detail

Payment 500.00 deposit required within 2 days, and payment within 1 week. Shipping Buyer please pick up locally, within 14 days of auction end. I will not ship vehicle or any of the parts. Condition Originally a Texas vehicle, I am the second owner and have used it in Virginia and North Carolina since the 90s. This is a great car and fun to drive, but requires new tires to go any distance. Actual mileage beyond the limits of the odometer. Starts and runs well with good oil pressure, shifts smoothly, and drives very nicely. Put some new tires on this and you could have a stylish and rare daily driver. But this beauty is really ideal for a restoration (see dash, headliner, and paint). It even comes with the new headliner and dash cap plus many other valuable new parts - possibly enough to keep it going for another 45 years. One door needs a new check strap, but both doors close properly. Most areas of the floorpans are solid, but there is rust through the rear pan metal directly under the rear seat, and surface rust below an apparent leak of the master cylinder (hydraulics since repaired) all shown in the photos. In addition to all parts (detailed below), winning bid gets the official repair manual (for 1300/1500 engines), original owner's manual, and free and clear title. It has its original 4-speed manual swingaxle tranmission and the engine was replaced in the 90's with a rebuilt 1600cc dual port engine. Unlike beetles of the era, these have disc brakes in the front, and their longer wheelbase and lower center of gravity makes them drive wonderfully. This one in particular has been said by an expert mechanic to be "the nicest handling stock Karmann Ghia" he had ever driven. Karmann Ghias are extremely maintainable because everything is designed to be simple. Parts Included! These parts alone are worth the starting price of the auction!
