Vehicle Detail

Updated 3/19/14: I've got to sell a few things, and I want this to be one of them. I'm lowering my starting price to $700. This is a very restorable car or a fantastic parts car for your low-mileage cream puff! I bought this car back in the early 1980's, thinking that I'd get around to doing something with it. Here it is, 30 years later and I haven't touched it, so now it is coming available for someone else to do something with it. The guy I bought it from told me that he drove it home one night and parked it, but the next morning it wouldn't start. It sat there for 2 or 3 years before I bought it from him. I tinkered with it for an hour or so and couldn't get it to run, so I put it aside until I had more time to work with it. I never found the time... I went out this morning, put a battery in it, and tried to crank it over. All it did was click. I then went and tried to manually turn it over by hand by turning the crank pulley. I couldn't get it to move. I tried to figure out how to get a socket on the crank bolt, but I didn't have any luck figuring out how to get one up in there while dodging the shroud and fan and pulley. So this car is being sold as a NON-RUNNING and probably SEIZED-engine vehicle. I noticed also that the rodents had chewed spark plug wires and left their little gifts behind, but I didn't see any other wiring that had been chewed, but I didn't look too hard. Everything under the hood appears to be there. My research tells me that the engine is 455 cubic inch. The automatic transmission is there, but I obviously know nothing about it. The interior is rough from having sat around without a top for the last 30ish years. However, I have tried to keep it covered so the interior is much better than it could be. The seats are definitely reupholsteryable. I did not remove the carpets, but I believe the floors are solid. I checked the frame, and I found no rust out on the frame of the car. It does have a rusted out spot behind the passenger side rear fender, and there is a speck of rust over the driver's side rear wheel. Overall, the body is in good shape. The hood is good, as is the front bumper and grill, although they're not perfect. The right front fender is straight, but it appears to have some cracked bondo in it. I think it's in pretty good shape. Both doors are good. There is a dent behind the passenger side door. It's ugly, but definitely fixable. As I mentioned, there is some rust out around and behind the right rear fender. The trunk lid and back bumper and valence area are fine, but the right rear taillight is broken. The left rear fender is in good shape, with just the small bit of rust above the wheel well. The driver's door and front fender are both good. All the glass, including the windshield, is good except for the back glass for the top. I pulled up part of the trunk carpet, and the trunk looks very good. The top frame is there and, I believe, complete. When I had the battery in it this morning I pushed the top down button and it clicked back behind the back seat. When I was looking in the trunk, I think I saw that the passenger side cable (If I'm not mistaken these use a cable drive system instead of hydraulics for actuating the top) might be apart. It comes with a functioning ignition key that also locks and unlocks the doors and a separate trunk key that works fine. It has a clear title that is in my name. It has its original set of hubcaps; 3 are good and 1 has a couple dings. When bidding, please take into consideration that, for shipping purposes, this is a NON-RUNNING roller. I haven't priced shipping a car out of here, but I know it's expensive. I will have the car on 4 aired up tires and situated so that it can be loaded as easy as possible. Blanding is located about 180 miles southwest of Grand Junction, CO and is not on an interstate. I'm 300 miles from Salt Lake City UT and Albuquerque NM, and about 400 miles from Denver CO and Phoenix AZ. Buyer is responsible for arranging for and paying for shipping. This is a no-reserve auction which means that the first bid might be the winner. I would like a $200 payment through Paypal within 48 hours of the auction close, and we can then arrange how the remainder is to be paid. I would like for the car to be moved within a month of being sold, but that can be negotiated. I just put a number down for mileage. I don't know what it is showing. If it matters, I can check for you. Please feel free to contact me for additional information or pictures. I can be reached at 435-459-0591. If you call and get the machine, please leave a message. I will return your call; I won't call a number back when no message is left.
