Up for auction is this 1950 Buick Super Convertible. She is equipped with and inline eight cylinder engine and a dynaflow automatic. Her original options list includes leather upholstery, power top, power windows, power seat, heater and AM radio. She came from the factory a very pretty medium blue with a blue and white interior but was repainted white at some point and a rolled and pleated red leather was installed. She was sold new in Arkansas but moved to Oklahoma at an early age where she spent the next fifty-five years. A broken upper shaft in the driver’s suspension took her off the road somewhere around 1959 and she was sold to a hoarder who let her sit out on the Oklahoma plains until his death in 2009. We purchased the Buick from his estate and got her rolling again but due to slow business in this poor economy we must sell her to another shop or hobbyist with the means to restore her back to former glory. This Buick will need floor and trunk pans, inner and outer rockers and the convertible support braces replaced. Patch work will be needed on floor supports, fender and quarter bottoms, door bottoms and the trunk lip. The exterior body is very good without any significant pitting and only shows minor dents and dings except for the lower driver’s fender and rocker which were damaged when the upper suspension shaft broke. The frame is nice and solid with only surface rust. Convertible top frame is very nice and folds freely by hand. All the hydraulics for the top and power accessories are present including the pump, lift cylinders and valves. The inline eight has not been turned over in sixty years and is seized. The top and interior upholstery succumbed to the Oklahoma sun and cold long ago. We have the door panel stainless and all the power switches. The brakes are inoperative but are not stuck and the car rolls well on good air holders. The chrome is flaking in places but the bumpers and grill teeth should rechrome nicely. The pot metal is good but the grill bar is broken. The stainless trim is nice and shiny with only a few small dents and one bent side trim. This Buick is a superb project for someone looking to build a resto-custom with a late model repower and suspension (our plan originally) but is stock and complete enough for the restorer wanting to take her back to OEM. Look at the photos thoroughly and ask questions before you bid. This Buick will be sold with an Alabama bill of sale as we are a no-title state for cars built prior to 1979. We have the original title and a full chain of ownership back to when the car was sold new. This documentation will be given to the buyer upon receipt of full payment which will enable titling the car in your name within your jurisdiction without difficulty. This Buick is being sold with NO RESERVE! The cars in the background are not for sale, please do not ask! This car will be sold on a Bill of Sale as Alabama does not title any car built prior to 1979. If you live in a title state, you may need the services of a title company at your own expense.
