Vehicle Detail
this is my 1972 volvo 1800es, as you will see from the pictures, it's a project, but it's solid, and well worth restoring, it's been my daily driver for 6 months. floors are in nice shape, the car has orginal paint, all of the body seams look nice, has not been in any accidents. the only issues body wise, are rusty panels in the rear, (pictured) which are easily fixed. the worst of the rust is around the rear window, which seems to be common for these, and the rear valence. replacing this metal is not an issue for any restoratin/body shop. i know this, because i work for a restoration shop, and do this kind of work all the time. as i said over all the body is sold. all of the glass and trim is there, and in great shape. as far as the interior goes, it will need a dash cap, and the front seats redone. otherwise, it's in pretty nice shape for it's age. heat, air conditioning works, as do all the gauges and lights. the motor runs great, when i got the car, it had issues with the pressure sensor, and throttle position sensor, and if you know anything about these cars, parts for the D-JET fuel injection system, are not made anymore, and as such, scarce and expensive. and since this car is a driver, i opted to convert it to a single weber carburetor, and i can say i'm very happy with that decision. also, i've converted the ignition system to electronic, with a pertronix "ingitor", also converted the the alternator to a delco 10SI, because i wanted a simple internally regulated alternator, i could get at any parts store. i realize that these modifications definitely maeke the car unoriginal, but the car is far from a concourse example. and these things make it easier to drive, and more reliable. the transmission is an m41 four speed, with a laycock type-j overdrive. overdrive works fine, the transmission does make a groaning sound in the first three gears, and scratches on the upshift to third gear, sometimes. it's been this way since i got it, and has not gotten worse. it does not affect the way it drives, and i've put many miles on it. in summation, it's a solid car that can be driven as it's restored. it's not perfect, if it were, it would be a 20k car. PLEASE READ i do not mind working with shippers. BUT there is a 500 dollar non refundable deposit due, within 48 hours of auction close. the balance is due within 10 days, regardless of transport arrangements. i will also be happy to store the car no charge for a few weeks, if need be. but read the description carefully, and feel free to ask any as many questions as you need. but do not bid, unless you are sure you want it. if it needs to be shipped, get a quote, and decide, BEFORE bidding. On Feb-26-14 at 11:16:24 PST, seller added the following information:if the fact that the car his been converted to a carburetor is a problem, none of the wiring was cut, nothing was modified to where it could not be put back, there is another ES local to me, for sale. i want the body of it, if the auction goes near my buy it now, i'd be more than willing to purchase the other car, and sell all of the efi related stuff off of it, for a very reasonable price.
