Vehicle Detail
1965 PORSCHE 912 3 gauge coupe, built 9/16/65 according to COA in my name that comes with the car. Serial #350888 Paint code: 6602 Engine # 831343 Transmission # 222680 902/1 5 Speed All numbers match the COA from Porsche. COA lists as 1966. As with all my listings I have tried to cover all details good and bad. This car was originally purchased by a local pilot. He sold it to another local gentleman, (owner 2), who dismantled the car and sold it to it's third owner as a dismantled car in 1990. I purchased it from the third owner. He had the car in a dry garage and his basement still dismantled for 23 years. I will supply bill of sale from owner 2 to 3, 3 to me and from myself to you. I have contact information for the original owner who had moved from my local area to California 2 years ago. Sold on notarized bill of sale. The listing required me to put clear title in the description but this car is a pre-title car sold on notarized bill of sale. I suspect this car was bought from the factory and then brought to the USA. Maybe the original owner has more history and paper work. This car was built with rare European heater system that included full heater boxes around equal length headers, defrost nozzles at rear window base and other differences from US system. Speedometer is in Kilometers per hour and shows 22,739 KM (14,129 miles) car also has optional exterior temperature gauge that is functional. Also has factory radio, 5 piece rubber floor mats. Mats are in superior condition without tears except for 1 1/4" long one at heater control lever pass through. COA also lists other options of leatherette headrest and "signal Key" and Pheonix tires. The head rest is missing but the mounts are there on the driver's seat back. Signal key appears to be a different horn control ring on steering wheel rather than hockey puck button control. This car was produced at the Porsche factory not at the Karmann factory. Car was equipped with optional Phoenix tires when built. Now sits on 4 Fuchs wheels with tires that hold air. 2 steel, chrome plated wheels come with car. Dated 7/65 and 4/66. No hub caps on steel wheels. Original interior and mats are present and surprisingly good for their age. No interior carpet present. Original trunk center carpet in car. Has some deterioration next to battery. Have plastic battery tray and rubber hold down strap. Wiring harness and electrics are excellent. Horn is rusted. 1 wiper shaft damaged but I am supplying extra shaft rack. Water drip tray removed for dash back photo. Car is virtually complete but for a very short list: Missing are muffler, headrest, antennae, 1) door lock knob, ignition key, luggage straps, "Porsche" letters for rear lid, some air cleaner bolts and air cleaner cans. Items not on car in pictures like wiper arms, corner lights and rocker trim are separate and will be boxed. Likewise engine and ancillary parts. The door lock keys are present and door locks work. Ignition switch in place and complete. This car was built with the very early air cleaner system that has right angle plenums on top of the solexes and had large cannisters with filters that latched on to the plenums. I do have the carb top plenums but do not have the canisters or filters. My research shows they are available new. Engine is apart and out of the car as is the transaxle, 1/2 shafts and rear shocks. Engine is complete with a set of new cylinders, pistons, pins and rings made by NPR #86P (U9X9910A0) in their original box. Heater boxes require repair. Fuel tank is excellent with no rust. All latches and releases work great. Rear deck lid release knob has broken finger tips. Hood and deck lift cylinders are shot. There are some areas of repair done to the body in the past that I have shown in the pictures. Rockers need re-do but main floor is good. I have additional pictures of the floors and bulkheads available on request. Head liner is shot. Rods are good and included. Currently the color is not the correct, original red. There are areas of the correct dark red color still on car. Please view photos closely. I tried to show condition as thoroughly as possible. I have a full photo essay of the car with fenders off but could not list all pictures in the listing. Those photos are available upon request. Thanks for looking. Spencer On Feb-25-14 at 18:04:11 PST, seller added the following information:!!!?? PLEASE NOTE: If the odometer has rolled over, as was suggested, then the car will have covered 76,266 miles and 842 yards. The dash and gauges are un-disturbed. The loose gauges in the picture of parts on the shelf are spares. Also in that picture are the heads and some other bits from a 68 that I will list in the future with an engine and vin tag. Thank you all for looking. SpencerOn Mar-01-14 at 13:10:32 PST, seller added the following information: Please note: Today I installed the transaxle and short block into car to facilitate shipping. By auction end I will have boxed the loose items with bubble wrap and a written manifest. Except for one or two boxes, all items will be in the car. Thank you to all those who have bid. SpencerOn Mar-02-14 at 10:46:33 PST, seller added the following information: FYI: The spare wheel/tire dated 7/65 has a well worn Pheonix tire. Also, I have located the two plastic arm rest under caps not in the pictures that will be included. They are in great shape. thank you, Spencer
