Vehicle Detail

I purchased this Rover on ebay at the end of January. I was in the process of arranging transport back to New York when we had a household emergency which of course blew the transport budget a few times over. Therefore with the approval of the previous owner I am relisting the Rover using his description and pictures. I have obviously never seen the car in person, so if you should have any questions, I will act as intermediary. Peruse the description and pictures, and bid freely and often. LOW LOW RESERVE 1961 Rover P4 80 Saloon 1 of about 5900 produced (how this car ended up in AZ not sure) How many are in the US ? hard to say, but there are a lot of clubs online in the US, Canada and of course overseas for those who love these cars and don't want to see them all crushed or parted out. VERY COMPLETE AND SOLID AZ CAR FOUND MAYBE 2 SMALL THINGS MISSING FROM THE CAR THIS CAR WAS RESTORED ABOUT 15-20 YRS AGO AND WHEN THE LAST OWNER DIED THE CAR WAS JUST LEFT PARKED FOR ABOUT 12 YRS HERE IN TUCSON AS FAR AS WE CAN TRACK IT. SO do you RATROD it or Restore it back to stock, tough call HOW MANY RHD ROVERS rat rodded or stock have you seen on a HRPT or Woodward Cruise ?? You can be the first !! Many owners of these cars had chauffeurs :) DRIVETRAIN: factory original OHV 2.3 Is suppose to run fine, but we didn't get the keys so didn't try to start it. Looks like someone tried to put a Petronix in it recently and may not of hooked it up correctly with the whole + ground thing. So its going to need points put back in or possibly another Petronix. Some of the wiring to the coil a little cluttered up but you will be able to see in the pics. Motors spins over fine and has good compression. 4 speed trans and rest of the drivetrain suppose to be in good nick too. It has the optional electronic OD switch too on the steering column. Tires are old and not road worthy . INTERIOR: being that this cars been in AZ most its life the wood is complete yet dry. The original leather was replaced with velour during the restoration about 15 years ago. Floors are solid, so one bit of rust drivers side by the E brake handle. Still has original visors, bench seat f/r, dual glove boxes, clock and even the tool kit ! Not to mention all the other cool stuff Rover put in these luxury Saloons back in the day. EXTERIOR: original color 1 paint job over the yrs about the same Color over the Aluminum doors, trunk , hood and rest of the original English body. In some areas you can see the original paint and some of the original primer where the sun has baked it. Super straight metal, although the bumpers did get some damage, easy to restore. The Grill is very nice and the missing porcelain emblem is actually in one of the glove boxes. It is missing one of the front fender mirrors. All the original glass is in very good shape best I can tell. Driver outer door handle works sometimes from the outside but if you reach in it always works from the inside. Rest of the doors are fine. Cool Fog lights still in good shape on the front bumper. Suspension: Overall again nice stock original condition Some restoration done to it about 15 years ago. Steers and rolls fine, handbrake works, not sure about the pedal brake, I'm sure they will need some looking after before driving it or during its next restoration. This car is 90% rust free Arizona car These cars rarely even come up for sale anymore ESP RHD VERSIONS IN THE USA
