Vehicle Detail

1971 Triumph Stag, originally a saffron yellow manual transmission V8, repainted in a much lighter cream yellow and converted to GM V6 with an automatic transmission. I bought it from a relative after the gentleman who did the conversion passed away, so I didn't get any information on the swap. I drove it to work daily for about a year, doing only minor maintenance as needed. I still drive the car occasionally, but the brake booster recently developed a leak--brakes must be pumped, and stopping distance is increased. It starts easily, shifts correctly and runs well. The power steering was not connected during the swap, so parking requires more steering effort than usual. Working correctly: power windows, high beams, voltmeter, radio, brake lights, tail lights, horn, turn signals, low fuel light, cabin fan, gauge lights.Partially working: low beams (one side), speedometer (not calibrated), odometer (not calibrated), rear defrost.Broken or not connected: climate control, temp gauge, power steering, tachometer, dash clock, heater, choke, driver's side seat belt reel (stuck) passenger side outside door handle.Paint is in fair condition with minor blemishes, interior is in good condition with a few tears (driver's seat, driver's headrest, A-pillar, steering wheel). Includes:Original soft top (not installed). The canvas is in poor condition and the frame may be missing some hardware. Original hard top (not installed). I was told it fell off of a truck--there are couple of dents, the rear window is popped out, and it seems to have been twisted as it will not latch in place on the car. A local body shop quoted me $1000 to repair it. Knock-off wrench for the center caps of the factory wire wheels, spare front wheel bearing, and a 1:43 model James Bond Stag from Diamonds Are Forever. I don't know the actual mileage of the motor or chassis, or what car the engine is from originally. Please feel free to ask me any question not covered here. The car has current registration and a clear California title. Local pickup only. While the car can be driven, I have not taken it on the freeway in months due to the issue with the brakes, and I strongly recommend transporting it by trailer. You will also need room for the large, heavy hardtop. On Jan-07-14 at 14:47:58 PST, seller added the following information: As of 1/7/14 I've updated the listing with some new photos based on the questions I've been getting. There are closeups of the cracks in the driver's seat, chips and other flaws in the paint, the inside of the trunk, the engine, the soft and hard tops, and the broken passenger door handle (the inner plastic part popped inside, we've just been using the inside handle). Sorry the car is so dirty in today's photos; I'll wash it this weekend. The engine is a 3.8L V6, marked GM 14020533. I also need to add the following updates to the condition: There are a few chips in the paint that someone touched up with a lighter color. The radio/cassette is only partially working, since only one speaker is installed and the power antenna is stuck. The car leaves a few drops of oil and transmission fluid when parked overnight. I forgot that I had the front wheel bearings replaced along with the front brake calipers, so a spare will not be included. As I mentioned in the original description, the driver's side seat belt reel is stuck--it can't be buckled. The passenger side belt doesn't retract.
