Vehicle Detail

My car has never been stored in a barn! The definition of a" Suburban Home Garage Find" did not exist until now! The Buick was garage kept by all three owners its whole life. I have owned this car since 1994. After getting it back into operational condition that year, we used the car to attend car shows and events all around the country. Additional pictures can be viewed at http://public.fotki.com/pbskiver/ . You will be the first person to restore this car and will not have to dig through others body or paint work! If your the kind of car guy that wishes no one else touched the car before you bought it, here's your car! I have made additions to the car, visible in the pictures and held to only bolt on changes that can be undone, so the car can not be called a 100% original car but it is very close to what General Motors built in 1960! This Buick is an amazing example of a true SURVIVOR car. The car is a factory power steering and power brake equipped car. After I brought the Buick home and had the opportunity to really sort out what was there, I realized how beautiful the cars original condition was. I refrained from touching the cars paint or trim. I met the original owners in 2009. They still live in the same house, from 1960, when they ordered the car from a local Cleveland, Ohio Buick dealership. Right after he bought the car, he was given a company car and the Buick was used as a weekend car and to go on vacations, towing their small boat. The car was traded in, when he got his new Electra in 1970. The second owner, a General Motors employee, appeared to park the car in 1971, as I could not find any records indicating he drove the car from 1971 until I purchased it in 1994. The 2nd owner delivered the car to a restoration shop where the car languished for a few years until the owner tired of the shops inability to work on the car. The shop disassembled the interior, but had done nothing else to the car. While parked at the shop someone attempted to steal the headlight rings, damaging the housings and broke the passengers side rear window. The tint does not match the cars other glass exactly. I found all the fasteners and reassembled the interior using Auto Custom Carpets (ACC) and replacing only the cloth seat centers with the black material. I installed a Custom Car Audio AM/FM cassette and two 6x9 speakers in the rear shelf. The brake lines were replaced with Just Tubes stainless steel lines and all new shoes and hardware. The taillights have blue dots that were put into aftermarket lens and the original lens are stored in my house. The original wheels and hub caps are in storage and will be included as well as the taillight lens. I found a NOS set of Foxcraft fender skirts that will stay with the car. I hand glazed (polished) the car in 1994 and have only hand washed the car afterwards, or dusted it off with a California Duster. The car is stored under a California Car Cover. I was able to determine the timing ring on the balancer had spun. The car could not be properly timed and I think that is why the second owner parked the car when he did. There were notes in the trunk with timing references and firing orders written and crossed out and engine compression readings marked under the hood that shows where someone was trying to get the car to run. The balancer needs to be rebuilt! There are many companies that do that type of work. My mechanic was able to time the car by placing it at Top Dead center, checking the timing chain and using a dwell meter and his ears to tune the car. We drove the car that way until 1997 when the car 's radiator failed on a cruise 900 miles away from home. We towed the car home and I parked the car in my garage and that's where it has sat, covered in my garage since 1997. I have started the car through the years. The car did drive into the garage under its own power. I have re-cored the original radiator. The fuel tank is hot tanked and the fuel sending unit has been professionally rebuilt and is ready to install. The transmission is leaking through one of the "Tubes" on the front -side of the trans bell housing. The exhaust muffler tailpipe broke off but is included. The Buick needs work to return it to drivable condition and must be purchased as a project car. The buyer is welcome to check the car out before removing the car from my garage and verify the amazing condition of this car. The car needs to be towed home. I have over 145 pictures on my Fotki album site showing additional detailed pictures of the Buick. Events and shows we have attended. And undercarriage, floor, trunk, etc. http://public.fotki.com/pbskiver/ All questions will be answered so please contact me before the auction ends. I will be available and will return messages promptly! I had seen the ads in the past where people were selling their cars for health reason. I now know what that means. Here's your chance to purchase a very nice, true SURVIVOR 1960 Buick and give it the attention it deserves. On Dec-26-13 at 07:17:22 PST, seller added the following information: Additional Consideration is available for pick up arrangements necessary due to Weather and Road conditions. The safety of the buyer, transporter and of course, the Buick, are the most important concerns for me!Adjustments and appointments can be made keeping your safety in mind!We can adjust the deposit amount to reflect your time schedule and arrangements you need to complete the sale and delivery of this Buick.Your positive Feedback and mine as well are just as valuable to me! On Dec-26-13 at 09:36:41 PST, seller added the following information: This response would not post in the questions section. Here is a copy of that question and my response. Dear mullins9503, You are welcome. The front dogleg of the wheelwell shown in the photos along with sections of the lip need metal work. The amount of repair will need to be determined by your metal mans skill level and ability. I had planned to repair the sections with parts car sourced metal by adding them to the original wheelwell lip, someone else may chose to replace the whole lip. I also have shrinking and stretching skills along with the tools to fabricate the areas needing attention. The pictures show untouched wheel wells and quarter panel conditions as it exists right now. My opinion of 1960's I have seen repaired is the metal man usually misses the curves and shape of that front dogleg. Mine still has the shape and contour to guide a good bodyman to repair. As well as the NOS Foxcraft fender skirts have the shapes necessary to fabricate repair pieces off the car and trial fit them before installation I have references available for the final buyer to show my ability to assess and estimate this car properly and honestly and will explain why I didn't do the repairs myself when they arrive to pick up the car.It involves that "health issues" comment up in the item description! - bnchofstuff From: mullins9503 To: bnchofstuff Subject: Re: Other: mullins9503 sent a message about Buick : LeSabre LeSabre 2 door hardtop #181286430492 Sent Date: Dec-26-13 08:19:24 PST Dear bnchofstuff, thank you for an honest and quick responce. i also noticed some quarter panel rust through has that been corrected or will it need to be addressed as well. i am not a body guy and would have to have these issues repaired by somebody with the skills to correct, preferably with metal not bondo. and i need to consider this cost along with the price i would be willing to pay in the auction. do all quarters and rockers need replaced or repaired? thanks agin for your time. - mullins9503
