Vehicle Detail
For sale is a very rare, very well taken care of 1990 ZR1 Corvette. Low mileage at 20,379 driven but very little and only on sunny weekends. It has the correct black 41U option with a very rare gray interior. Has the original paint and has never been in a accident. The car is garaged and babied though it's entire life. I'm a Parts and Service Manager for a Large Chevrolet dealer in Houston and only my best technicians have ever opened the hood on this car. I use only synethetic oil and fluids. It needs nothing and can be driven across the USA today without worries. Comes with the original presentation box and all paperwork, brosures etc. and shirt offered at time of sale. Has both sets of original keys with both "valet" engine keys. I have done a couple of things to the car: 1. Had a small drip from the rear main engine seal I replaced the seal and replaced the clutch, pressure plate and throw out bearing while it was apart. 2.has a new battery 3. has new Goodyear tires 4. I added a cat. back exhaust 5. had a recalibrated chip installed (440 estimated horsepower with exhaust and chip) Mint conditrion inside and out. Drives perfect, starts and runs as new. (or better since the exhaust and chip upgrade) Perfect Carfax and only one other owner. 10 Ways To Identify A ZR-1 1. Logo on right rear bumper. 2. Raised "Corvette" lettering on rear fascia. 3. Three-inch wider rear fascia with spacer panels on either side of license plate. 4. Side fender logos on '92 and later models. 5. Menacing, throaty exhaust note. 6. Eleven-inch rims with 315/35-17 tires in the rear. 7. Four square exhaust outlets on '90-91s. 8. Hatchback-mounted center high-mounted stop lamp. 9. Specially laminated "solar" glass with a "hole" in the windshield for radardetectors. 10. That rapidly disappearing dot on the horizon as you struggle to keep up. For those who don't know. The 1990 ZR1 “KING OF THE HILL” was powered by the traditional small block V-8 but much different than the standard L98 Corvette engine. This RPO LT5, was a 4 cam, DOHC, 32 valve, with a unique 16-tube intake plenum fuel injection system. It was built by a joint venture with, then GM owned Lotus, Corvette engineering, and Mercrusier, the marine engine builder in Stillwater OK. This aluminum block and heads, 350 c.i. small block engine, produced a huge 375 HP, and 370 ft lbs. of torque @ 5600 RPM. It was capable of 0-60 in 4.4 seconds with a top speed of 180 mile per hour. The ZR1 went on sale, and was available only as a coupe (hardtop). It was distinguishable from the other Corvette coupes, with its wider tail section, to give room for the huge rubber Goodyear made for the car. The LT5 ZR1 stayed glued to the ground with 315 40 ZR17 tires mounted on massive 11 inch wide rims on the back and 275 40 ZR17 on 9.5 inch wide rims up front. All of this finished off with a rounded out bumper with rectangular tail lights, This was unique for the ZR1 for one year, and later becoming the normal bumper in 1991. Added to this was an all syn-chronic six speed manual transmission. This Radical C4 Corvette was ready to run. In March of 1990, at Firestone’s 7.7 mile test track this factory direct Super Vette set 7 new world records for a true production car. The speed and distance records it broke were the 24 hour ( 175.885 mph), 5000 mile (173.791 mph) and 5000 kilometer (175.10 mph) marks. Corvette was now truly in the super car class and this was as Radical as you could get in the day. Thus, the Corvette slogan “Life Begins at 180 MPH” was born.
