New videos added 11/13/13A video and additional pictures are below the description.I will not use a shipping service for delivering the vehicle. Please read "After Winning the Auction" below. 2001 Honda Insight241,xxx miles (the mileage has increased slightly due to continued driving)5 speed47-50 mpgHas some cosmetic issues.Prior Salvage Title *When the requirements to clear a salvage title in Minnesota have been met, the vehicle may be subject to branding, and may be branded "prior salvage." Runs fine, drives straight, heat works, battery charges fine. Engine/Transmission:• I did not have time to detail the engine bay, if I am able to before the end of the auction I will post up a new engine bay picture.• Sounds like valves need to be adjusted when it's cold.• Transmission shifts fine up-shifting, if you downshift to 2nd or 1st it will grind. • New belt.• Engine uses timing chain.• Engine has a slight leak at the drain plug, I believe a new drain plug or some RTV gasket sealant applied to threads will stop it. When it's cold the valves are louder, after it warms up it sounds fine. The MPG has dropped ~1.5mpg since the temperature has dropped. When you drive the car in a low RPM from a stop it will sometimes shake the car a bit, if you feather the throttle it will accelerate fine. I don't know if this is common or not. I forgot about this with my prior listing as I have gotten so used to feathering the throttle.**So I tried to get a video of the shaking problem. I must have tried 20 times and could not get it to happen. It's just a sporadic issue that came out more when the temperature dropped** Interior:• Carpet needs a good cleaning.• Driver side seat has a tear in the fabric/bolster. The seat covers are “Dickies” brand and are a pretty strong material and cover the tear nicely.• Dashboard has scratches, has a Velcro thing on the dash.• Hatch area carpet is dirty, but the original optional netting covers it up fine.• Some marks on the roof lining.• All weather aftermarket floor mats.• Aftermarket radio (USB connection, Aux connection) The check engine light comes on periodically (P0420), as in it will stay on for 3 days and it’ll disappear for a month. Very random and it can be ignored or I believe it to be a faulty ECM as that was a common issue with these models. The driver side window rolls down fine (power windows), but when you roll it up it will lean forward and stop going up. What I've been doing is simply grabbing the front of the window and guiding it when it goes up. Maintenance light is stuck on. This is due to a faulty button. There is someone providing a free fix on InsightCentral. Exterior:• It has scratches throughout the body from normal wear.• The roof had a guitar decal on it, when it was removed it left a mark (residue).• Roof has clear coat peeling.• Upper right corner under the front bumper has a tear in it, not even noticeable unless you look below the car.• Some of the black trim is flaking off near the windows.• Front tires are less than a year old and have great tread.• Rear tires have more wear but should last until next summer/winter.• Has tint on the front/rear side windows.*The rear squirter does not work. There is no washer fluid going to the back window unfortunately. I have not attempted to source the issue as of yet. Car looks better farther away, but when you get close you can see the clear coat peeling on the roof and some scratches around the body. Overall the body is straight. Battery pack:• It’s in pretty good condition. I’m not sure if it’s been replaced or not, but I don't believe so.• To be safe I picked up a battery grid charger (trickle charges the battery to re-balance the battery cells). Salvage Title:• The impact appears to have been in the rear right quarter panel, but it looks fine. When I was purchasing the car I inspected everywhere besides pulling panels off. When I was installing the grid charger I had to pull the rear inner panels off. I could see where some of the fixes were done in that area. Didn't not look like a major damage. Body lines all appear great and the car itself drives straight down the road. Overall:I had intended on keeping this car for a few more years but my wife and I are moving to Japan in January so this has to go. Not a whole lot to the car. It’s a basic car that has treated me well. Biggest annoyance is the downshifting but after you have driven it for a bit you learn how to avoid grinding it. I do have an eBay store if buyers want to see my main account that has a LOT more feedback. This is more of a personal account, but due to eBay fees I decided this was the best way to re-list this auction.http://stores.ebay.com/vtecn8ive/ After winning the auction:Has to be picked up in person. I can pick buyer up from the MSP airport, Minneapolis train station, or a Minneapolis bus (Greyhound/Mega Bus) station. If buyer is located within 8 hours from me I could deliver/meet for a fee ($50 first hour, and $25 every hour after) plus fuel cost of the Insight and my wife's car (for there and back). Full payment+estimated fuel cost/fee needs to be made for anything over an hour prior to delivery.Buyer is expected to make a non-refundable deposit of $100.00 using Paypal. This is just to let me know you are serious about picking it up.I can hold the car for 1 week extra. If I need to hold it past a week then I will require full payment otherwise it will be re-listed. Here is a video of the car:Click here for a walk around video. Click here for Driving 1st-5thWhen you're driving the cold start is more prominent but as you can tell after it has warmed up it goes away. Click here for Cold Start Click Here for Auto Stop Sorry for the dirty engine bay. Deterioration on the steering wheel. Marks on the dashboard. Marks on the roof liner. This is showing the AutoStop working properly, and the maintenance light stuck on. Seat belt light was due to me not wearing it (don't worry I was stationary). This is showing how the window leans forward when rolling all the way down.
