Vehicle Detail

Well with great regret I am auctioning my Corvette. Some medical bills and the fact I do not drive it anymore lead me to the decision to sell it. I have owned this car for about 3 years and have enjoyed every minute. I will list all of the info I know about it to the best of my knowledge. The car is possibly one of 27 painted in Arctic Pearl. I say possibly for the simple fact that the records GM kept at the time are very limited now. When I had the interior out of the car the entire tub is Arctic Pearl, so the car is not some cheap repaint. The other fact is that the car was sold to GM and delievered to another division of GM where it remained until I believe 11/90 with about 11k miles on it. This info is consistent with the info found in a few articles on the web about the paint color and what GM did with the cars. The parts identification sticker on the console lid has been modified with the paint code. I am guessing this was done before the sticker was put on the car as these are difficult to remove without damaging them. Breakdown of the 27 cars painted 31U Arctic Pearl 15 were ZR-1s 10 were L98 6 spd coupes 2 were L98 6 spd convertibles Again I have found info very limited on this. I am sure there is someone out there that can dig it up. The car is in great shape for its age and mileage. The car has 186k on it but you wouldn't know it by driving it. The exterior is in pretty good shape, paint is in good shape overall. The car could use a polish and wax as it has been a little while since I have done it. There are a few chips and scratches on the car. Most notable is a scuff on the front bumper and a couple bigger chips on the rear bumper. There are also some scratches below the moulding on the passenger door. The interior is in good shape as well. There is a crack in the middle of the dash pad and the driver's door panel has some imperfections. I did a temporary fix on the door panel however you can still notice toward the top where I reglued the vinyl that had peeled back. The interior has had a few upgrades as well. I installed Corbeau A4 seats that recline. The seats are NOT a fixed/molded seat. I also added a Clarion touchscreen double din head unit with the navigation module. I have installed a pair of Polk audio 6x9 speakers in the rear, but have not installed anything in the front. I still have the boxes for all the stereo equipment that was installed. The radio does need a bracket on one side to stabilize it. I do not have the original Bose radio. The original speakers are still in the doors. I also had a 4 point roll bar which is welded in and has a harness bar. I have a 5 point harness on the driver's side but I have not installed one on the passenger side. Carpet has faded a bit but is still in pretty good shape as are the interior panels. The knob for the select ride is missing, and the retainer for one of the power window switches is missing. The interior lights all work as I replaced the bulbs when I had the interor out. I cleaned the carpets while the interior was out and epoxy painted the floor pan as well as installed some new foam style insulation. Dash cluster works great. I have had no issues with it in the time I have owned the car. The only other interior thing to mention is the motor that controls the blend door does not work. I had dificulty locating a new actuator so I hooked up a choke cable which is mounted under the dash (hidden). Clean installation and allows full range of movement of the blend door. The rest of the climate control works as it should. The steering wheel also needs to be replaced/Restored, the leather has cracked badly on the top of the wheel. Under the hood. Since I have owned the car I have done quite a bit of work to it. New plugs and wires, cap, and rotor. The water pump was replaced a little over a year ago as well. Upgrades under the hood include the following. Accel/Lingenfelter Super Ram intake, I managed to find one new in the box about 6 months ago. This is the high flow baseplate as well as the Lingenfelter designed upper. BBK twin 58mm throttle body Ball milled aluminum valve covers AIR pump delete. polished aluminum version from Mid America Motorworks. New A/C compressor and accumulator New serpentine belt. 8 new Accel 24lb injectors as well as a fuel pressure regulator replacement Engine runs good and strong, does not seem to blow smoke even on start up. That being said it does run a bit on the rich side which is where I would want it. I do not know that the engine has ever been changed. I do know that at some point the intake gasket had been replaced as I discovered while doing the Lingenfelter unit. Chassis is in good shape, does have minor surface rust on the very rear cross member under the tub but again it is just surface. Just one of the things I left alone. The steering is good and tight as well as the ball joints and tie rod ends. I replaced the rear tie rod ends and had one of the rear driveshafts rebuilt, the other is still in good shape. The car was lowered by Corvette Corner here in Columbus and the rest of the suspension and steering were deemed to be in good shape. Transmission/rear differential Transmission shifts great, ZF transmissions have big gears and are a fairly strong unit. Clutch does not slip, grips good and I have not experienced chatter. I have on a couple occasions heard the dual mass flywheel knock. I may be a little critical of this but I want to be honest about everything. I have never had any issues with trans, clutch, or differential. I did install a Hurst shifter which was a fun project. Differential was serviced about a year and a half ago, fluid that came out wasn't that bad but I wanted it and the trans fluid changed. Tires and wheels Tires and wheels have probably 3k on them. The wheels are C4 ZR-1 Reproductions 17x9.5 in the front with 275/40 17 ZR Sumitomo tires 17x11 in the rear with 315/35 ZR17 rear tires. Slight vibration from right front between 63-72 mph. probably needs a balance again. Other items of note not mentioned in the above. Magnaflow stainless cat back exhaust. Installed about a year ago No catalytic converters, factory cat pipe hollowed out. How I bought the car. HID headlight upgrade. I do have the original parts to all of the projects I have done with the exception of the above mentioned radio. The only other exceptions would be in the case of a few bolts. I do have the orinal seats which would need new foam and leather. Fuel pump was also replaced with a GM unit. A section of the hard fuel line from the sending unit has been replaced with Gates Barricade high pressure injection hose using injection approved hose clamps. I have AIR pump, intake, factory seatbelts(which can be used with the Corbeau seats) etc. The ABS does not work, as I was building this as a Grand Touring car I was going to do away with it. The Service Ride Control light is on. Car still handles fine and stops great, but will need new shocks. I was planning the Koni yellow route. NOTE: The roll bar is a 4 point bar with a full hoop to the floor, this limits seat travel for taller people. The roll bar could be cut out and this would allow full seat travel. I mention this because I am 5'8" and I would hate for a tall person to show up and have to drive it a long distance home. NOTE: According to Carfax, this car had one owner from the time GM sold it, until I bought it from a wholesaler I know. The car is not perfect, but it is in good shape considering its age. Would make a great driver or possible weekend track car. This is a car I would not hesitate to drive anywhere, I have enjoyed many a road trip in it. Please if you have any questions do not hesitate to ask. This is being listed on a friends ebay but he does have my contact info. Since I have owned it I have had it to Indiana, Kentucky, Pennsylvania, I have never had an issue or had it leave me stranded. As I stated earlier I regret that I am selling it. The car is for sale locally and I reserve the right to end the auction early if it sells. A $400 non refundable deposit is required within 24 hours of auction end. I would refund deposit if a buyer feels the vehicle has been grossly misrepresented. Again this is my personal car that I know very well. Please take the time to read back over the listing as I have tried to describe everything I know about it to a correct and accurate nature. I have owned several C4 Corvettes and this one has been my favorite. On Oct-30-13 at 05:52:18 PDT, seller added the following information: One more note: This is Greg- I listed this Vette for my friend John who wrote this listing and has owned this car for some time. (which by the way I tried to trade him some cars for it & keep his Vette for myself but no luck there). I spoke to him just before the listing started & talked him into selling it with no reserve so people will know he is serious. So yes there is no reserve here. Any questions I will forward to him & respond with his answers asap. Thank you.
