Up for bid is a 1977 Toyota FJ40 Land Cruiser. I have owned this FJ40 for about 8 years and it's time for me to part with it. During the time I’ve owned it I have slowly restored it. However, the restore has been a rough restore and will probably need additional work in order to get a nice looking FJ40. It has a 2F inline 6 engine. The engine is mechanically sound and for the most part runs great. However I have not been able to get the carburetor to run perfectly. It will backfire every once in a while. I've only put about 1,000 miles on the engine since I've had it. All the emissions components were removed by the previous owner and I believe that some missing vacuum line is contributing to the misfire. The transmission is a 4 speed + reverse all the gears shift smoothly and the 4x4 works as it should. The drivetrain does not have any leaks. The previous owner also added power steering. This Cruiser has many new parts. They are: new exhaust system including rear exhaust and new header, new rebuilt carburetor, new alternator, all 4 struts, new oil pan, new battery, new clutch master cylinder, spark plugs and new belts. The rear seats and the driver bottom portion were recently reupholstered. The tires are in great condition with about 70-80% tread left on them. The heater works great. There is a radio, but it needs the speakers to be wired up, I will include the old set the came with the Cruiser when I bought it. It also comes with a CB radio that also needs to be hooked up. Other than that all the electrical components are in working order, including headlights, turn signals, reverse lights, horn, windshield wipers. There is some rust on this FJ40 which is expected from an almost 40 year old vehicle. The underside of the vehicle was coasted with rustproof enamel a few years ago. I have included pictures of the areas with most rust, mostly in the rear wheel well. The carburetor needs some adjustment, it currently does not burn the gas-oxygen mix as smoothly as it should. There is also a leak from the header area, I believe it needs a new gasket. The back rear doors vibrate when driving, they need the rubber weather-strip which I will include in this auction. The paint is not perfect either, it's spotty in areas. Overall it’s a decent Cruiser which needs a new home and some additional work. I do drive it daily to but have never taken it on a long highway trip. The vehicle has a clear title. I would higher recommend that interested buyers come take a look at the Cruiser in person.
