Up for sale is a very solid and original 1955 GMC 3100 truck. This truck is a fresh trade in, we are told by the owner that it is a matching number V-8 and has a 4 speed manual transmission floor shift. This truck has less than a 1000 miles since the motor was disassembled and rebuilt the pistons were in such great shape they were left. It has beautiful ceramic exhaust manifolds. There are many new parts including fuel pump and wiring kit. There was no expense spare in the rebuilding of this motor. There is a photo log of all the work done. The clutch was also done at the same time. This is a great every day driver. It fires right up every time. Runs, drives, and steers nicely. The only thing not original to the best of our knowledge is the carburetor and oil dip stick. The interior is nice the seat has just been reupholstered but it could use a new headliner.The body is solid the paint looks good but could use a new paint job to really make this truck stand apart. This truck is a true American classic and has all the potential to be a show truck.This Truck was from Texas so rust is not a issue. The bed could use new wood. On Oct-15-13 at 17:20:34 PDT, seller added the following information: This truck is very rare do to the fact it has the original matching numbers 288 cu inch V-8. The block casting number is 518037 Prior to developing their own engines, GMC used the Chevrolet Straight-6 engine and Pontiac V8 engine. They used the Pontiac 287-cubic-inch (4.7 L) motor for 1955 and 316-cubic-inch (5.2 L) motor in 1956, but advertised the engines as the "GMC 288" and "GMC 316". They used Pontiac's 347-cubic-inch (5.7 L) in 1957. For 1958 and 1959, GMC reduced the bore of Pontiac's 370-cubic-inch (6.1 L) to 3.875 in (98.4 mm), resulting in a displacement of 336-cubic-inch (5.5 L). In Canada, however, GMC used the Chevrolet Small-Block engine rather than the Pontiac.
