2001 BMW 525i wagon Quite frankly, I have loved this car from the start and still love it (it really is the ultimate driving machine!) I am the original owner and purchased it brand new from BMW in New York Autocheck shows three owners as the title was once a corporate holding of mine to a marital holding to currently a single man who owns it namely me LOL!. but it has been mine from new :) I have taken very good care of it and would rather not sell it. But I have purchased the coupe version and no longer have a need for the wagon. It has been an unbelievable car and has given me absolutely no problems. It has 229k miles and drives Brilliantly. The pick up is amazing and still gets me 24 to 25 mpg. It is actually quite difficult to find them, as it is the first year the a39 was made with angel eyes and the rarest part is that it is a manual transmission. It's nimble and moves like a race car! I can go on forever, as my history with it has been nothing but wonderful! I have had the oil changed every 3-5000 miles even though synthetic can go 10k without a change. My best friend is a BMW certified mechanic, so he has cared for it privately for the last 7 years or so. I've addressed the cooling system, radiator, thermostat, and everything associated with the fans and its clutches. Ive had all suspension details cared for, control arms etc. Tires have less than 10k miles on them. AC runs great, heated seat, all mirrors, seat memory and gadgets work well. All mechanicals are great. Trans, clutch, belts, new plugs last month, detailed regularly. I have also driven it with great care, the first clutch lasted 165k miles ( I go easy ). no accidents, not even contact with another bumper. There are some scratches and two "dime sized" dings, from parking lot bone heads that can't park, but cosmetically, the car looks amazing for its age and miles. As with any car with mileage, it burns about one quart of oil every three weeks. I think the key needs reprogramming (something a dealer can do or maybe the battery in the key is dead?). I've never really bothered to address it as I'm kinda old school and put the key in the door which lock the doors and activate the alarm. Its missing one hub cover and the sun roof need servicing, it opens and closes with a little help (motor functions), but I think its off the tracks. The drivers side window goes up and down on an angle...so I think it needs to be realigned to the internal clips....but the actuator is functioning well....the trunk is currently being opened from the interior, something I think has to do with reprogramming the key as well. The tan leather interior looks really fabulous for its age and the dash and wood trim have the same new luster. I purchased an alpine 6 cd changer when it was new, which is rear mounted. The audio system has not lost its original rich sound (although the numbers on the radio stations are pixelized a fairly common thing with bmrs) ...Well, this car has been a dream from the start and should you have any questions feel free to ask.
