Vehicle Detail
Up for auction is a very special example of a Whittier built, Shelby CSX. This is a one owner car with a number of very rare and desirable Shelby parts and upgrades. Owned by a long time Shelby enthusiast and fanatically maintained and upgraded, this is a great way to enter the Shelby community. Purchased new from Fullerton Dodge in Southern California, this CSX has been a Socal car from new and has never left the state. This car is absolutely RUST FREE, has never been damaged or repaired in any way. Most of these cars have been abused, rusted and wrecked, leaving very few nice examples in existence. The engine in the car is also quite special-freshly rebuilt(less than 5K on the motor), it is fully balanced with some nice upgrades. Due to the owner's Shelby connections, the pistons are custom units specifically built to handle increased boost. Forged, of course, but also completely treated with state of the art coatings-Swain heat treated on the top of the piston and teflon coated skirts ensure that these pistons up up to the task. Fully forged and balanced rotating assembly(rods and crank), the rods are shot peened, equipped with Spiro loks and the big wrist pins. The head is the correct, cross-drilled unit and is ported. There is a 52mm throttle body and a modified VNT turbo. The turbo was modded by TEC in Colorado with a T2 compressor housing and a Grand National wheel. A Porsche blow off valve protects the turbo. Plus 20 injectors and an upgraded Walbro fuel pump ensure the engine recieves enough fuel. There is also a new factory injector harness, Spirit RT extra duty intercooler hose and K&N filter assembly. Magnacore wires provide the spark. The car has always used synthetic oils and fluids. The transmission is the durable, original 555. Fully rebuilt by the owner(a well known TD trans specialist on the west coast), it shifts perfectly. It is also fitted with one of the rarest pieces of Shelby Dodge peformance kit-the Shelby viscous limited slip differential! There are probably only a handful of these units to be found in private hands. This piece was obtained as a result of the owners connections with Shelby and works very well-smooth and in many ways superior to the usual type of limited slip, this set up not only works fantastic, but is much easier on equipment and gives a better transition when driven hard. Both axles have been rebuilt. The brakes have been upgraded as well. The ultimate brakes for a Shelby Dodge-the Spirit/Daytona R/T units have been installed on all four corners. There is also an upgraded Mopar master cylinder to handle the bigger brakes. Rotors are drilled as well. Not only does the CSX have the big brakes, but it has the J-body knuckles too. The steering rack is a rebuilt unit and works very well and is leak free. The radiator is also upgraded-brazed end tanks and a bigger core, allow for cool running. The suspension also received attention. Konis are found all the way around and work in conjunction with Eibach springs(lower 1") to provide crisp handling. There is also a bigger front sway bar, factory rear bar and a CS Racing competition panhard bar. Finally, new poly bushings and an upper strut mount tie everything together. The clutch is a fresh T2/T3 Hybrid and works great. The CSX is still running its factory AC system. A new factory compressor, condensor, H-valve and lines have been installed. The system is just waiting for a fresh fill of refridgerant to be operational. There is an upgraded sound system and CD player installed and some additional gauges. The computor calibration currently fitted is a custom cal by Paul V(formerly of Turbos Unlimited) Its a nice street set-up and hits hard at 4500 RPM. Also included is a cal from Neil Emiro that provides more advance and also works very well, although higher octane fuel(93+) is required. The condition of this CSX is very good. As stated earlier, there has never been rust or damage. The factory ground effects are in place and undamaged. All Shelby equipment is present. The interior itself is in amazing condition. No rips,cracks,fading,stains-looks factory fresh. The only wear detected is some minor wear of the carpet by the trans tunnel. The seats feel great and the foam is like new and very firm. All of the electrical items works as they should. The car drives well, handles well and passes the brutal California smog test(might need to have the included factory airbox reinstalled for picky visual inspectors). It runs very cool with excellent oil pressure. There are no clunks, loud rattles or weird noises-in short, a truly great example of a CSX. The paint is 80% original. The roof and hood have been repainted as they all experienced clear coat fade within a few years of new. The glass is good and the underside of the car is in absolute, rust free, factory fresh condition-best I've seen. The factory airbox, radio, calibration, etc will be included with sale. Also included is the Koni adjustment knob, factory manual, owners manual, warranty book, etc. I probably still have window sticker and it will also be included if found. Flaws? Not many. As most of the paint is original, there are a few chips and scratches here and there. Also a couple very tiny door dings. The aforementioned minor carpet wear and the AC needing to be charged. The tint on the rear window is bubbling(if I have time,I'll remove before sale). The two front tires are fresh Z-rated items, the rears are older and could stand to be replaced. The original wheels have gone missing and the car currently rides on 16" alloys. What a great opportunity to obtain a very rare, one owner Shelby built CSX in great shape. A cool addition to the Shelby Dodge fan's collection or for the Ford Shelby enthusiast looking to branch out into the Shelby Dodge world. As these Shelby Dodges are now accepted in the Team Shelby and SAAC events, its a great way to do shows and track sessions without risking a priceless Cobra or GT350. The original owner has asked me to list car for him as he is not a regular Ebay user. Circumstances have required that he sell his cherished Shelby and I agreed to help him list it. I know the car, have driven it and any questions I can't answer will be passed on to the owner. Great car-good luck bidding and thanks for bidding! On Sep-24-13 at 12:22:43 PDT, seller added the following information: This car is one of 500 made, The 1986 Shelby GLHS Omni also had a production of 500. The 87 GLH-S Shelby Charger actually had a run of 1000. The Shelby door jam stickers are in place. The exterior CSX decals are also there. I will check on the cars mileage, This is a get in and go CSX. DMV fees are in a current non-op status. A small fee for the California residents and a smog and you are good to go, all smog equipment is on the car. This car is accident and 100% rust free. Hope this helps, thanks for the questions.
