Vehicle Detail
This is a very original running driving 1955 Chevrolet straight out of Arizona! Comes complete with its original accessory gas door guard & bumper guard extensions! The car runs and drives featuring its original 265cid V8 and a period installed, perhaps dealer installed underdash AC unit. I replaced the fuel pump, flexible fuel pump line, and installed a factory rebuilt carburetor. The original carburetor is included with the car for rebuild. I drained the crankcase, transmission & rear axle fluids and replaced them all along with a new engine oil filter. The clutch feels fine and the car shifts normally. There is a new DieHard Gold battery installed with new Autowire brand custom battery cables made specifically for these cars. The gauges and idiot lights, interior light & the horn all work. The head & tail lights work but I believe of of the turn signals is out. The car was originally fitted with an electric wiper motor however the wiper motor was reportedly stolen just prior to me buying it. I have spare vacuum wiper motors I'll include with the car if someone wanted them. The AC system is 100% complete but needs to be gone through and is not currently operating. The Evaporator blower works and there is a sticker indicating fairly recent R-134a conversion. The body is one of the most if not the most rust free I have ever seen. There is no rot above the headlights, inner & outer rocker panels, trunk walls/wheel wells, door bottoms, spare tire well or tailpan. The floorpans are largely still covered in original factory primer & paint, however there is very light scattered pitting only here and there. There is only spot, a small 1/4" round hole in a recess of the front passenger pan that prevents them from being perfect! The exterior body has minor dents or surface rust with original paint as shown. The door glass has cracks as expected with the exception of the front right door. The interior needs to be redone. While the dash and door panels are ok, the seats & headliner were made brittle by the Arizona heat and need to be redone. The car will also need new carpeting. There are many extra parts for the car I have accumulated over the last year or so and are included and photographed as well. They include but not limited to a new steel Danchuk fan shroud (interesting to note here that a super rare 5 blade radiator fan was installed with the AC system), new belts, hoses, thermostat, rear taillight bezels, new outside rearview mirror, complete front turn signal assemblies, front and rear emblem inserts, and I'm even including the new/sealed POR-15 paint I originally bought to paint the floorpans. Please look the photos over carefully and feel free to ask questions! This is a super solid '55 Chevy that only comes along every few years, don't miss out. Bidders from Europe or Australia are welcome, but complete shipping arrangements are your responsibility please. Bid with confidence, this is an honest to goodness solid car with nothing to hide. I have a clear title in my name. Low reserve! On Sep-21-13 at 16:02:19 PDT, seller added the following information: The engine pad reads 0293969T55G The description of the new battery cables should read "American Autowire" brand, the negative 'cable' is in fact an OEM type ground strap.
