Vehicle Detail
Preface: This car was built for road/track racing, it's probably not something you want to commute to work everyday in. It is not emissions legal to drive on the street in CA, but I can't speak for other states. That being said...Since this car's had several owners and an interesting history, I'll try to outline it as best I can. It started life as a 1997 Ford Mustang GT. The only thing original that remains is the steering wheel, gauges, wiring harness and fuel tank. Pretty much everything else has been gutted or replaced. The roadracing project started around 2006 as a sponsorship from Griggs Racing (I believe the car's then-owner was a representative at Griggs). They took this stock Mustang GT and installed their Griggs GR40 World Challenge race suspension kit: http://www.griggsracing.com/product_info.php?cPath=4332_4310_4347_1060&products_id=535 (note: the early version of this kit didn't include the aluminum drop spindles like the current kits do). Then they brought the car to Greg of DPR (Domestic Performance & Restoration of San Diego) for the installation of the Griggs GR40 brake system (which was actually featured in a magazine article in Muscle Mustangs and Fast Fords! Check it out: http://www.musclemustangfastfords.com/tech/mmfp_0608_mustang_griggs_brake/viewall.html). Eventually Greg of DPR bought the car from the Griggs rep, put in a new rebuilt Cobra motor (see below for specs), then sold it to Richard of Atomic Motorsport Concepts in San Diego around 2008. Atomic gutted the interior, fabricated the roll cage, installed racing seats, and relocated the battery. Then I bought it from Richard in 2009. It's currently in excellent running condition, and has only been to the track a handful of times since I've owned it. Otherwise it's been completely garage kept and well maintained. I really regret having to sell it, but I'm moving cross-country and I just can't take it with me.So there's the history to the best of my knowledge, here's the specs:ENGINE:4.6L 32-valve Cobra motor (aluminum block)2004 Cobra forged crankACL race bearingsHV oil pumpCanton trap door oil panProbst forged pistonsProbst lightweight forged rodsHead cooling modFord Motorsport water pumpPrimary long tube 15/8" headersExhaust is 2.5" 304 TIG welded stainless with Burns stainless mufflersHas stock compression for 91 octane. Motor has been de-tuned for the track mandated 9.5lbs to 1hp limit (which comes out to 305 rwhp but motor is capable of 425+ when timing and fuel are adjusted properly). This motor is badass, trust me you will get nods of respect when this thing is fired up. The rebuilt motor has 200 miles on it at most.DRIVELINE:Rear axle has 4.10 gears with a fresh factory posi with T/A style aluminum diff cover and carrier pre-load studsT-45 transmission with a .67 top gearSteeda Triaxe shifter assembly14 lbs billet flywheelSouthland 6-puck road race clutchKing Cobra pressure plateCHASSIS:Griggs GR40 World Challenge kitAdjustable sway barWatts Link setup on the rearKoni shocks all aroundGriggs GR40 brake systemCustom 10-point 4130 chromolloy roll cage (since this is a full cage you have to climb through the windows to get in/out, so if you're a very big person this car might not work for you).Upper and lower subframe connectorsChassis has been squared and the front & rear suspension have been blueprinted and squared as wellNew steering rackSteeda 17x9 Ultra-Lights wheels MISC:2 Sparco Pro 2000 seats with harnesses2 window safety netsExtra set of 4 Mustang SVT wheels & tires and custom storage cart (if you want it).Tires are Toyo 888s and have only 1 track day on them.Total car weight is around 2900 lbs.The paint is not great, the front fairing has quite a bit of paint chipped off. Otherwise the body is in good shape. No rust, dents, or holes. I tried to crawl underneath the best I could to get pictures of the suspension components, so if you see drops of water in the photos it's because I power washed the underside before snapping the pictures. You would easily spend $30-35k to build this car from scratch. This is a super bargain to get yourself into track racing with a solid car with top-notch components. Believe me it's a ton of fun to drive! Turn-key, needs nothing, ready to race. I have the clean CA title in hand. The winner of the auction will need to put down a $500 deposit until the full balance is paid, preferably through PayPal. If you're local to San Diego, we may be able to make other payment arrangements. You can't drive it out of here since it's not street legal in CA, so bring your own trailer (I don't have one), or if you're using an auto shipper I will work with your shipper to get the car picked up. Email or call 619-261-2435 with any questions. *If you have zero or negative feedback on eBay, please contact me first before bidding. I need to make sure you're serious, too many time-wasters out there. Thank you.
