Vehicle Detail

You are bidding on a 1987 Porsche 944 body. This car has been featured on Jalopnik twice for being smelly and hard to move. For better or for worse, I have found an easier project to take on for the next LeMons car, so this one needs to move out of my carport ASAP. "Not working or for parts" would be an apt description at this point, or this would make a great starting point for an engine swap/racecar project since we've already started taking the interior apart. This car was stored in a barn for many years by its previous owner, and then in my carport as long as I have had it (all of a month). As such, what I have left in the interior is fairly intact. The dash has the usual cracks in it for a car of this age, but aside from that, the rear vinyl seats are in perfect condition, the dash looks to be mostly complete, headliner looks perfect, and the rear hatch struts even work as they should. The radio is unattached, but I'll throw it (and its late 80s cassette-player glory) in the glovebox for safe keeping. I cannot make any guarantees about the usability of the car's parts, although most of the interior electrics lit up and were usable when we tested them out. The automatic transmission is still attached and appears to be intact, but again--I am unsure of its usability since it's been sitting so long. The paint on most of the shell appears to be in good condition, but since the car is parked farther than a hose can reach, I haven't been able to inspect what is under the dirt. There is a lot of dirt on this car. You may have the dirt as well with your purchase. There are a couple white paint? fingerprints on the shell, though, like someone was doing some careless renovation nearby. I do not know if these can be polished off or not. The interior is also rather complete, but messy. This shell is missing three wheels (the black "cookie cutter" ones in the pictures are not included), and engine, and several interior parts, including the rear hatch carpet, some sheets of rubbery foam sound-deadening insulation in the hatch, the door skins, the center console, the driver's and passenger's seats, and a couple of the interior switches. The one late-offset 15" "phone dial" wheel I'm including with this car has an old tire that has a slow leak in it. One of my friends has also called dibs on the LCD clock and the glove box hinges as well, so those will not be sold with the car. One of the studs on the front left wheel seems to be the wrong size--it was very difficult to get that lugnut on and off. All of the others were just fine. It has also been sitting for a considerable amount of time--when I purchased it, the latest item I found in the garage was a magazine from 2001. Property records for the land where they were sitting showed a divorce around 2000, and then the land got put in the ex-wife's name. I take it she wasn't a 944 fan. Then the new owner listed them all on Craigslist and that's how I ended up with one. There is no title. There are no keys. Buyer is responsible for pick-up and transportation of the vehicle. The subframe keeps coming unattached, so the easiest way to move this would be to bring three other 5x130 bolt pattern wheels, re-bolt on the subframe and get a friend to move the wheels while a couple others push since the steering rack isn't properly hooked up. Car is sold AS-IS. See photos for exact condition, but do note that not everything pictured in the photos is included with this car. Be sure to check out my other auctions this week--some of the items I've already parted out from this car and other 944 parts from are up for sale. Thanks for looking!
