Vehicle Detail
Miss Molly is looking for a new home: Miss Molly is a 69 Mach 1, 351w-4v, 4 Speed manual, 3.25:1 Positrac*, non air. Here are the numbers on Molly. Vin Number: 9F02M214077 9: 69F: Dearborn, Michigan. 02: Sports roof/Fastback M: 351cid-4v 214077: Consecutive unit number Door Tag Numbers: 63C C5 3AA 27F B7 9 5 63C: (63) Sports roof Deluxe Interior. C5: (C) Exterior Color: Jade Black (5) Indicates Flat Black on Hood 3AA: (3) Black knitted vinyl, Mach 1 interior : (AA) Possible Walnut grain 27F: 27 day of June (1969) B7: DSO Ford of Canada - Pacific Region – British Columbia, Canada 9: Axle Ratio: 3.25:1 * (I had the 3.25:1 Positrac installed.) 5: Transmission: 4 spd. Manual I found Miss Molly in Napa, Calif. several years ago. She was advertised with having new paint, new interior, rust free - all areas of rust replaced with new metal… extra layers of sound proofing. Included was an engine build-out sheet which has since become lost and I am not able to remember any of the particulars. Molly has power steering, an Edelbrock Preformance intake with a rebuilt Holly four barrel carburetor 4777-2 650cfm, hand choke, electronic ignition, new alternator, regulator, battery, headlight and alternator wiring harnesses, and horns. Although she was started on a regular basis, she has been sitting in the garage, driven less than 300 miles and used mostly as a storage self, with blankets, boxes, and stuff piled on top of her while I traveled 4 days a week. But the main reason for selling Molly is I was diagnosed with idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis which is terminal and told that I only had 2 yrs at best….. Molly is not perfect, …. on a scale of 1-10 she is a good 8.5… and for the price she could be a best buy….. she runs very strong, fun to drive, and in my opinion in very good overall condition for her age. I hate surprises particularly if I buy something sight unseen…. So rather than tell you everything that is right with Molly here are her imperfections: there are some very small scratches in her paint, the right side door mirror has been cracked…. how that all happened being parked in my garage is a wonder to me… there is a slight rattle in the left tail pipe, her back up lights need the back-up switch installed, the window washer bottle is missing, although i have the trap door latch it has never been installed. The current odometer reads 9,645 miles. I cannot attest to what that represents. There are a couple of small imperfections with the interior including a small tear (1/4') and some wrinkles in the head liner by the rear window. The steering wheel is non-stock Grant steering wheel instead of the OEM rim-blow wheel. I had the smaller wheel installed, as I preferred both the look and feel of the smaller wheel because it gave better access when getting in and out of the vehicle. However, I do have the original rim-blow steering wheel with a brand new horn switch included. After purchasing Miss Molly my 'mustang madness' friend pointed out to me a couple of items: 1.) that when the new rear qtr panels and the trunk were replaced, if one is really looking, it appears that someone forgot to cut off and finish the lower tabs which by being left on, create a small gap between the rear qtr side panels and the rear valance panel below the bumper where the two panels meet. 2. ) considering that the door plate shows the interior color as 3AA …. (AA) indicating a possible walnut color grain, the complete instrument panel, clock panel, radio, and door panels may have been replaced with teak wood grain during restoration, (not teakwood overlays) … which seems a likely possibility since the center console is walnut color grain. (I prefer the teakwood gain.) Also, I removed the mustang emblem on the front grill and the mustang roundels on the side roof. I liked the smooth look. I have the grill emblem but have lost the roundels. The under carriage is clean, but small areas of surface rust will be noticed. As a side note, shortly after I purchased Miss Molly a friend who owned a body repair shop remove the right front fender to verify that the Vin number on the frame was consistent with the dash plate and the door plate. Also, it would appear that Miss Molly has had 3 previous coats of paint. We found what remains of the engine compartment tag which also showed much of the Vin number as well, screwed to the left front radiator support. When we removed and cleaned it we found traces of 3 different coats of paint, jade black, red, green. If I were purchasing Miss Molly, the first thing I might consider is installing Flow Master mufflers. While the existing ones seem to be good, my opinion Molly needs a more provocative growl, but that said, she looks sharp, runs well, turns heads, all instruments, clock, interior lights, door courtesy lights and stock am radio work. She has fold-down rear seats with new carpeting and trim. Miss Molly has recently had a Utah State Vehicle Inspection w. Certificate and is street worthy.
