Vehicle Detail
Suzuki Samurai for sale, we had a Suzuki Gran Vitara V6 and auto trans installed in it to give it a little more power and make it easier to drive. It had a stock four banger in it with a stick shift when we bought it, where we were in the mountains we did a lot of snow driving and in deeper snow the stick shift just lost too much power when shifting so we had the V6 and auto trans installed. It was a lot better in the snow with the more powerful engine and auto trans. It also has a brand new Gran Vitara radiator installed in it, electric fan for cooling. We never had any problems with overheating, but the old radiator was leaking so installed the new one a year or so ago when we were going to put it back on the road. A local 4X4 shop did the installation and it turned out very well done. We've owned the Samurai for about 12 years, and haven't used it for about 4 years. We had a place in the mountains and used it quite a bit, now we're flat-landers and don't four wheel like we use to. The Samurai ran when parked, but now it doesn't start, seems like there is a connection that's gone bad and I'm traveling quite a bit for work and don't have time to find the problem. The battery in the picture is dead, I have a new rebuilt battery installed in it. The 4X4 shop that did the changeover advised the engine was a 2004 with 85K miles on it, engine ran good when parked, no smoke, lots of power. I removed the door panels to install aluminum diamond plate panels, the blank panels go with the car, again, just don't have time to work on it. Tires and wheels are in great shape, it has the cartop rack and rock slider guard rails, the differentials are also armored. We didn't rock climb with it, but the guy we bought it from had started to install rock climbing gear on it. We have a clear title in hand. The paint is original, there's one spot on the back passenger side corner where the paint is bubbled in an area about the size of your hand, otherwise no rust but the paint is faded. Stock hood latch was a pain, so changed it over to Jeep type hooks mounted on the front of the hood. Floors and undercarriage are in great shape, no serious rust, we're in a very dry area. Bucket seats need new covers, back seat is in good shape, carpet is worn in a couple of places. Transfer case worked without any problems, front hubs have manual locks, the rear differential is not locked. No reserve auction, please don't bid unless you want a project vehicle and plan on following through and complete the purchase. Vehicle is sold as-is, where-is, no guarantees or warranties implied or given. The vehicle is for sale locally also, so we reserve the right to cancel the listing at anytime if the car is no longer available. Please ask questions prior to bidding, thanks. 07/07/2013 Was asked if the Samurai turned over. The engine cranks, but the starter sounds like it's dragging. The starter is new, thought that was the problem, but it doesn't seem to be.On Jul-08-13 at 14:05:28 PDT, seller added the following information: 07/08/2013 Was asked what shop did the conversion and what did it cost. On Track 4X4 did the conversion, they were located on Sunset Blvd in St George, UT. They were big into rock crawling and were partnered with DP Performance in Cedar City, UT, on some of their cars. On Track has since gone out of business, but DP Performance is still in the rock crawling action big time. On Track purchased the engine and trans and installed it for $4600, did a first class job and never had any trouble with it until I let is set the last few years. If you have more questions, please let me know, if you want more pictures call or text me at 435-559-0759 and I'll get them to you. Thanks for all of your interest. On Jul-09-13 at 14:09:40 PDT, seller added the following information: 07/09/2013 Had a question about what kind of oil we used in the V6. Since we owned it we've only used full synthetic oil in it, we lived in the mountains of Utah at 8500' elevation, so it was plenty cold and lots of snow. We had tracks on the Samurai in the winter, made a lot of difference and it looked really good. It never failed to start and took us back and forth on the 14 mile round trip without any problems. In 2005 we had 22' of snow at our place, we didn't travel during the blizzards of course, but getting back and forth was no problem with the tracked Samurai. I sold the tracks a few years ago, had a hard time deciding to let the Samurai go.On Jul-11-13 at 07:57:47 PDT, seller added the following information: 07/11/2013 Had a question about power steering. The Samurai does not have power steering. When the tracks were on it the steering could get difficult on dry ground due to 4'X16" of each front track being in contact with the ground, on snow it was not bad. With the street tires on it, you would not know it did not have power steering, it steers very easy. The Suzuki Gran Vitara V6 is only about 1 litre more in size than the original 4 banger, so the weight difference wasn't that much, but power wise it's a world of difference. On Jul-12-13 at 07:58:13 PDT, seller added the following information: 07/12/2013 Had a question concerning the make and model of the roof rack. The rack was on the vehicle when we purchased it, there are no markings on it, so I'm not sure of the manufacturer. It appears to be of good quality, very sturdy, and we used it quite a bit going back and forth to our place in the mountains and never had a problem with it. On Jul-12-13 at 08:09:04 PDT, seller added the following information: 07/12/2013 Had a question about the aluminum sheets that go with the vehicle I purchased to make new door panels out of. I have enough panels to do the entire interior, driver and passenger door panel, panel on each side of the rear seat, and the panel on the back door. This is diamond plate, I believe it's 1/16", there are five sheets and all are 24"X36", so they are all larger than the area to be used in. I also have the original driver and passenger door panels which have been removed so you will be able to use them as a template. Thanks for all of the interest, good luck to over 100 watchers!
