Vehicle Detail
Normal 0 false false false EN-US JA X-NONE 1980 Corvette L48, 350 4-speed Automatic – Numbers matching. This car was part of an estate inheritance. I do not know much about the cars history. I was asked to sell the car for the family and have had the car in my possession for the last six weeks. I am not a mechanic or a dealer. The last owner was a cancer patient who “always wanted a corvette”. So he purchased this one, and was only able to drive it on rare occasions. I was told that it was purchased in 2009 for $13,000 with a complete overhaul on the original engine, new interior and new paint. I purchased a title history report in an effort to locate any previous owners, to find out exactly what was done, but that proved unsuccessful. So all I can tell you is what I have observed, and this is what I know: The car runs great. Handles great. Sounds great. And has surprising power. It is really fun to drive. Having driven this car several hundred miles over the past few weeks I can say that I have complete confidence to drive this car cross country at a moments notice. Definitely a daily driver right out of the gate. I did notice that if you take your hands off the wheel while driving, the car has a slight pull to the right. Hardly noticeable with hands on the wheel – but trying to provide fully accurate, full disclosure. There is also a small chip in the windshield. Its not deep and hardly noticeable. The T-tops, rear and side glass are all in perfect shape. The weather stripping around the T-Tops and windows appear to be new as well. This car also has the factory air and works nicely. The Red paint job is pretty decent. I would call this a “10-footer” – Looks great from 10 feet away, but if you get really close, some imperfections are apparent. Not a back-yard paint job, just not a 20K paint job either. Its appropriate for the age and value of the car. On the front passenger side of the cowl it looks as though some paint began to peel or chip away and was touched-up with a close, but not exact matching color of red. Also, the top portion of the rear window trim came off when the car was towed to my house. The car is currently garaged, so not a huge deal, but that will need to be replaced. Otherwise, the body is in really good shape with no signs of ever being involved in an accident. The interior is basically brand new. New Seats, new carpet, new dash, and new door panels. These items are well done and look great. The stock wood-grain instrument panel is not my favorite and is probably the first thing I would replace to complete the restoration. It looks as though the clock does not work either. Otherwise, all the gauges seem to work perfectly. The pop-up headlights: Sometimes they both pop-up, sometimes just one, sometimes neither of them. So, manually flipping them up just seems to be the norm with these things. That is all that comes to mind now and I will add more information as needed. The car is also being offered locally, so I am reserving my right to pull this auction early should I accept a local offer. Please email me with any questions and I will do my very best to answer. Also, email me for my phone # as well as a link to 50+ high-resolution photos. The car is located in the Augusta, GA area, and encourage you to see it in person if possible. Thanks for looking!
