Vehicle Detail
This auction is for a very cool and rare Mopar. An original 1965 Dart Wagon. Rarely seen, the Dart wagon is a unique vehicle that would be equally at home at the drag strip as a vintage dragster support vehicle of the beach hauling classic surfboards. It would also make a great starting point for a superstock tribute. This Dart already has a 4 speed(converted by a previous owner) and an impossible to find set of vintage Keystone Klassic mags. Used by Sox and Martin and other drag greats, these mags are perfect examples of 60s and 70s strip style. Much work has already been done to this wagon- a fresh clutch, complete brake job, rebuilt carb, alternator, wheel bearings, alloy radiator, plugs , wires, etc. It features the mighty Tower of Power, the Mopar slant six. The engine runs well, doesn't overheat and idles well. The trans shifts well through all the gears and there are no unusual sounds from the rear end or anything else. The original Mopar Dart radio is in place, all the windows are good and the wagon's back window is the rare power version that works well. There is also a current stereo head unit in place, concealed in the glove box. Another cool feature is that the roof was never fitted with a roof rack-so, no holes and more importantly-no rusty roof! The Dart also comes with a box or two of new and used parts-including new ball joints, bushings, etc. Used parts include another manual liftgate, the original steel wheels, trim rings and a couple dog dish caps. While most of the wagon is amazingly rust free(including the spare tire well, door jambs, sills, firewall, doors, cowl, roof, most of the undercarraige, etc), there are a few areas that need attention at some point. The driver front and rear passenger floor pans should be replaced(easily and cheaply sourced through Rockauto and others) and the rt front fender has a minor crunch(pictured). There are also a couple areas on the car that have had minor repairs and filler. The interior, while mostly original and servicable, does have some areas that appear to have been dyed. The tires are old and shouldn't be driven on other than short distances or onto a trailer. The Dart does run and drive pretty well, although it really should be thoroughly gone through before a return to regular service. As a starting point for a street rod, restomod or return to stock, its really tough to beat this old Dart. Also available(at extra cost) is a complete and running hi-po 340 V8 that would bolt right up to the Mopar four speed in the car. Please ask all questions as I recently took this wagon in on trade and do not know all of the history on it. Being sold as is restore as you drive and bid to win at no reserve. Thanks for looking.
