Vehicle Detail
Hello and Thank You for Stopping. This car is currently registered and inspected through June 2013 You are looking at a 1987 BMW 325i, 5 speed manual, with a manual convertible top. This is a classic 26 year old, solid vehicle, in great shape and a fun car to drive. I will attempt to give as much detail on the car as I can. Kindly remember this vehicle is used, and being sold as is. There are no warranties written, or implied. Kindly email if you have any questions. The car is also being offered for sale through other means and I reserve the right to end the auction at anytime if it sells locally. History of this car: I purchased this vehicle from a gentleman in Pennsylvania who was the second owner of the vehicle. He owned the car for 14 years and kept pretty good records on the car and I think he took very good care of the vehicle. I have the journal he kept over the years including gas purchases and repairs which the buyer can have as part of the purchase. The car has been garage kept both by the previous owner and myself. I have used the car for recreational driving and pleasure trips. This classic BMW is a true example of quality. This car also qualifies for classic car insurance which I currently pay $220 per year for full coverage through Haggerty Classic Car Insurance. Details of this car: 2.5lt inline 6 cylinder motor with 129,464 original miles running with 100% synthetic oil and is stored in doors. I still drive the car occasionally so the mileage may change slightly. The engine is clean inside and out, the pictures will explain the engine compartment. The motor and transmission are strong and tight. This car has lag free acceleration and has been serviced as needed by both the local BMW dealer and my mechanic regularly. The car is equipped with Burgundy Leather, PW, PM, PA, Cruise Control, Eight Position Manual Drivers Seat, and original owner’s manual for the vehicle. The manual convertible top is in great shape. I have applied fabric treatment and conditioner before and after winter storage and the car is garage kept all year round. The photos should show a decent representation of the top. The 12 gallon fuel tank yields 320 miles per tank, or 24.0 MPG. This car performs well at lower speeds with great acceleration and German engineering handling. These attributes only improve at highway speeds. This vehicle is sound and all doors, trunk lid, hood and even glove box have that traditional BMW closing thud sound that I have realized is just another great quality of these 3 series BMW’s. This is a great pick for the person looking to own a fun to drive, reliable, strong running car. This is my third 80’s edition 3 series convertible which I have owned, and my favorite since it has the 5 speed, which makes driving this car even more fun. New Parts: Brand new OEM battery from NAPA May 2013, new spark plugs and a new OEM spark plug wiring system October 2012, new trunk, and convertible storage compartment struts July 2012, new valve cover gasket and new rubber rocker rod ends October 2012, new coolant reserve cap and coolant level indicator October 2012. I have also installed an after- market removable cup holder, and OEM BMW floor mats. I have all receipts and log book of what was done and when from myself and the previous owner. What the car needs: There is a tear in the front driver seat at the seam and also across the left part of the back rest as shown in the photos. There is a short in the power antenna which has been this way since I bought it. The fuse for the antenna has been removed as not to draw power. Any auto radio store can replace it relatively inexpensively. The anti lock light is on which is a sensor on one of the wheels which does not affect the stopping performance of the car. Lastly the coolant light intermittently comes on and off. I noticed this after pulling it out of storage, however the temperature gauge and coolant levels are all OK. My mechanic believes it is a faulty coolant sensor as the coolant level indicator was replaced last year.
