This is a true Impala SS and we have the original build sheet for you. This vehicle was made available to us and we grabbed it before anyone else had the chance. There were lots of long stares and “gestures” when everyone found out that Grove grabbed this beauty! This vehicle is one of the nicest that we have ever seen, show ready. This is also a ONE OWNER vehicle from right here in sunny Birmingham Alabama, sold originally by Wood Chevrolet! Make this one yours! Options: Finished in classic white with teal interior accents and SS trim, this ULTRA CLEAN 1964 Chevrolet Impala SS is equipped just like you want in a classic Chevrolet beginning with the legendary 327 4-bbl 250HP V8 Small Block Chevrolet powerplant teamed with a 2-speed Powerglide automatic transmission, power steering, dual exhaust, original AM radio and much more! Yet ANOTHER Clean Southern Ride! This vehicle is riding on a NEAR NEWset of Firestone® tires! Service and Inspection Report: We brought this classic Chevrolet Impala SS in for service and found that it had been very well cared over the years. There were a few odds and ends that we attended to prior to offering this vehicle for sale. For starters, we did a full tune-up on this vehicle including spark plugs, plug wires, distributor cap, rotor, points, condenser and distributor vacuum advance unit. We also added the original factory wire clips that run along the engine oil pan and routed the plug wires according to the original factory specifications. They run down the engine block, across the pan and up the back of the engine. While we were doing this, we pulled the exhaust manifolds and installed new plug wire clips on the engine block. Of course, we used new exhaust gaskets and buttoned it all back up. It looks very original, just like Chevrolet intended. Next, we had new choke tubes installed in the exhaust manifold. Chevrolet designed the automatic choke on this model to flow air from the air cleaner base, down to the exhaust manifold stove, and up and out to the choke housing. All new tubes make the choke fully functional. Next, we installed a completely new dual exhaust system from the manifolds to the rear of the vehicle. It is laid out and installed exactly as Chevrolet designed. The mufflers are up front where they belong. While we were installing a new exhaust, we installed a new heat riser on the passenger’s exhaust bank. We used two inch pipes all the way back. The new system looks and sounds very good. We spent a lot of time laying out this exhaust to be original in appearance. While the vehicle was on the lift, we replaced the fuel tank and sending unit along with new tank straps. The fuel gauge was a little erratic and now it works just fine. To finish this job, we installed a new seal and lock ring at the fuel sending unit assembly. Moving along to some final underhood items, we installed a new thermal fan clutch assembly along with new drive belts. Driving the Impala SS, I noticed some whine from the rear differential so rather than ignore it, we removed the differential, installed new bearings, seals, pinion and ring gear, and filled the unit with synthetic fluid. We also redid the back brakes when we had this apart. The front brakes were new. To finish off this fine classic Chevrolet, we did an engine oil change, oil filter cartridge, air filter, fuel filter and also automatic transmission filter/fluid change. While we had everything looking good and running right, we adjusted the engine timing, carburetor mixture and idle speed. Since all of the original work was done, we’ve maintained this Classic Chevrolet and recently added a new AC Delco battery that you see in the photos. All in all, we did what would have amounted to $5,000 worth of service to this vehicle if you bought all of this after the sale yourself! That’s the Grove Automotive Group, Inc. difference. We service our cars and we do most all of the work internally. We don’t use some rhubarb pie tobacco-spitting shop that cuts corners and tells more lies than Carter has peanuts. We do the work ourselves so that we know that it is done RIGHT! Beware of the typical “Elmer Fudd” dealer. Vehicle Mileage: After 50 years, I cannot attest to the vehicle’s mileage. Over the years, I have put about 800 miles on this vehicle and I imagine that the mileage showing is in excess of the mechanical limits. There is a storage fee after the first 30 days (first 30 days are at no charge) and we offer the storage up to 90 days when the balance is to be paid in full. You can take up to 90 days to pay for the vehicle as long as you follow the payment schedule that is posted.
