Vehicle Detail

I had the Sprite listed earlier this week, but ended the auction do to 2 minor issues with the car. 1st - the tachometer for whatever reason stopped working while I was driving the car locally. 2nd - I noticed a faint squeal from the left front brake. This should just be an adjustment since these were just rebuilt. I was going to schedule an appointment to take the car back to where work had just been performed, but time will not allow right now so I am putting it back up with a lower reserve as well as a buy it now and someone else can tinker on it. Yes the car still drives fine. 1962 Austin Healey MKII Sprite. The Sprite has had a partial amateur / hobbyist restoration at some point in its past. Original 948 cc engine, smooth case 4 spd transmission and 4 wheel drum brake set-up. Overall a pretty solid car with good bones. Yes, there is a bit of filler, but doors, hood, trunk lid, rear wheel well lips are all solid. The underside of the car is pretty nice as well, having a couple patches. Structurally sound. I just had the Sprite at Manx Motors ( british car and motorcycle specialists ) in Auburn Hills Mi. Their mechanic went over the car, performed brake work, work on the carburetors, complete tune-up, oil change ect, almost $1200.00. The focus of the work was safety & reliability. They can vouch for this and I have receipts. Visually, there has been a lot of parts replaced on the car. I believe the engine and trans have been rebuilt due to looks/performance, but no receipts. I have a full tonneau ( red ), no top but I do have the proper frame assembly. Really nice $400+ Moto-Lita steering wheel setup. I replaced the hood, with an NOS one, which is in primer. Paint is old. Windshield has a crack on the right side. Dash is very nice, seat covers appear to be worn/faded originals. All gauges work ( gas gauge hangs up initial when tank is full ), lights, turn signals, wipers work. Radio powers up, but that's it. No horn. All heater system is present, but I have never tried it. I have the side curtains, but they will need new seals, and lexan. Original jack and spare are present. The bumpers have been removed ( personal preference ), but will sell with the car. The 948 does mark its territory, I believe this is from a gasket on one of the side covers. This MKII is no show winner, just good honest early Brit car that runs great, is a blast to drive and can be enjoyed now. I am reluctantly posting/selling the Sprite. Regarding history. I have had it less than a year. I am only selling do to personal reasons, but not a financial hardship. The prior owner was local and had it 9 yrs, but was not the person to do the partial restoration. Apparently the person he purchased the car from was local as well, but no history. I have the reserve set ( now lower ) according to what a local MG /AH specialist recommended. I am a car guy and an honest seller, my feedback reflects this. I may consider an interesting trade, or honest offer. **I am getting questions that are really already addressed in the ad. I recommend anyone serious about the Sprite to contact me, and I will forward you the contact info for Manx Motors. They had my Sprite for awhile, are good guys and would give you a fair and unbiased opinion of the car.
