Vehicle Detail
Great opportunity to have one of these fast rising rare collectibles at an affordable price. The 1963 is considered by many Lincoln experts to be the most desirable year for these beauties with it's good looks and improved systems and options. Only 3,138 were built. This is the year that everyone thinks of as the Kennedy era model year. I must unfortunately sell her at this time. This was going to be my dream car but circumstances have changed that. I know it will be all but impossible to find a good afforable example down the road as values keep rising as they should. They are plain and simply "very cool cars" and always will be. My 1963 Lincoln Continental Convertible has, I was told, rare "Silver Mink " exterior and "Medium Blue Metallic" interior. The odometer states 71,111 which I believe to be correct but cannot verify. I purchased this car out west about 5 years ago as I tried to find a good rust free example to restore. I was going to change the color to black but was told by someone on the "Lincoln Forum" that the "Silver Mink" color was rare and desirable and it is in fact a beautiful color so I will leave that choice for the new owner. (Unfortunately I lost the trim data plate on the door as I started restoration but will forward if I find it during or after auction. If not I found a place in Denver that makes reproductions from original plates that you could use. This car has had a lot done to and a lot of money invested but needs to have someone finish it mainly with regards to cosmetics like paint and interior which appear original. Again it will need both paint and interior. Other than some surface rust it seems solid throughout and underneath. I did find one spot on the passenger side rear about 2" that looks like it was repaired with bondo and as I was taking pictures I did notice some minor bubbling starting in rear edge of the trunk lid but that was all. As you can see in the pictures the floor pans and underneath look solid. When the carpet was out I had a good look at the floors from the inside and found they were all solid. The fenders all appear solid as well. I have had the fuel system cleaned and flushed, rebuilt the carburetor, new pittman arm installed, new brakes and brake booster, etc. Runs and drives very well. When I purchased the car it had the rare factory A/C option but the components had been removed. I purchased and had installed all of the parts to make it work and had it converted to the new style freon and now should just need recharging. It also has other options like the power antenna (that works), radio not currently working. 6 way power seat option that works but needs one housing replaced under the passenger side of the seat. Another option for 63' was power vent windows that are both working. The power windows all work although sometimes one of them is stubborn. The rear windows should automatically drop when the rear doors are opened (most do not). Both actually work although one sometimes does not go back up and I hope before the auction ends I'll have it working. A new top quality stayfast canvas top was installed. This is the best quality top available and is same material as a Mercedes top. Also has a zippered rear window. The top functions properly going up and down (email me to see video link showing the top working...I could not figure out how to add it to this listing) although it goes very slowly and recently seems to struggle. So I purchased a new convertible top pump motor last week. I purchased the most expensive top of the line high capacity pump with a 5 year warranty. The trunk is solid, clean and rust free. Has wide whitewall tires with good condition hubcaps and the wheels were changed from 14" to 15" which I was advised to do. Lights and most gauges work along with windshield wipers but needs new blades. Washer motor works but I think needs new water tube. Power door locks work on the front doors. I have re-veneered wood inserts for the doors (see pictures). Some other pieces are off of the car at this time like some chrome pieces, interior pieces that were taken off as I started restoration but they come with the car. I was getting ready to do paint and interior but only got as far as having new carpet installed and cannot finish the rest at this time. So it basically needs interior, paint, some re-chroming and cosmetics to complete it but can be driven and enjoyed now. I would rate this car between a 3 and 4 based on Haggerty Insurance criteria for valuation. Haggerty collector car valuation is recommended by many collectors such as Jay Leno as the most current and reliable. They value this model as of April per below. My reserve is much lower than the 4 condition price so this rare beauty is a good value for someone. Date Condition 4 Condition 3 Condition 2 Condition 1 Apr 2013 $15,300 $22,600 $36,500 $54,700 Comes with clear Florida title in my name. Please do not bid on this car unless you are prepared to purchase. My last experience was a waste of time with an insincere bidder and a flaky "0" bidder. *Please feel free to email with questions and to setup an inspection of the car. Inspections must take place before bidding not after. If you do not personally inspect the car or have someone inspect it on your behalf then you must agree to positive feedback. I say this because although I try to disclose everything to my knowledge concerning condition of the car my opinion may differ from yours on certain issues. If you do not perform due diligence on this or any other vehicle then it would be totally unfair for you to leave negative feedback and ruin my rating because you disagree with something you should have been aware of before your purchase by having it inspected to your satisfaction or not. If you are a serious bidder I will send you my phone number to answer any other questions you may have. BIDDERS WITH ZERO FEEDBACK OR A FEEDBACK SCORE OF UNDER 10 MUST ASK PERMISSION TO BID OR I WILL CANCEL YOUR BID IT ONLY TAKES A FEW SECONDS TO ASK --- IF YOUR SERIOUS - SEND THE E-MAIL. Car is advertised locally and I reserve the right to close auction down at any time. This car will not be released until all funds are cleared. Deposits are not refundable. Overseas bidders are welcome....I will help the transport truck load your car. Car is being sold “As Is” with no warranty expressed or applied. Thanks again and GOOD LUCK On Jun-16-13 at 20:40:43 PDT, seller added the following information: I had the new high capacity convertible top pump installed today and it works great. My mechanic was going to recharge the A/C system with the new freon but the compressor was leaking so I ordered one that will be here Thursday.
