Vehicle Detail
I am selling my '97 Explorer that I have owned for 10 years and used as a daily driver until I bought my new Explorer last month. The dealer offered me $300 for the vehicle, so I am looking to cover that & any ebay fees. Scrap value for the vehicle is between $500-$600, so no matter what you decide to do with the vehicle, you will be getting a good value. This would be a great parts vehicle or if you have the time & effort, you could keep it road worthy. The vehicle runs, drives and can get you from point A to point B but needs work. When buying my new Explorer, I drove about 100 miles that day. I am selling the vehicle in AS IS condition, so please ask any questions prior to bidding. I have taken as many photos as possible and will list everything I know that needs work on in order to give you the best description possible. If you are bidding from a distance, I am especially asking that you ask questions prior to bidding, and if you would win, I would suggest trailering the Explorer as I'm not sure how long the water pump has left. I replaced the transmission about 1.5 years ago with a used one, and it has worked well since I got it. The model I have is all-wheel drive and I have had no issues with it. The heater core has been replaced in the last few years. The battery is about 2 years old and works very well. I replaced the radiator a little over 3 years ago and it works great. I added a trailer hitch that towed my 3500 pound boat. The breaks do not have a lot of miles on them and work very well as they were replaced not that long ago. The transmission cooler was replaced 2 years ago. I replaced the thermostat & thermostat housing about 2 months ago. The winning bidder will have to have the vehicle picked up and paid for by the 24th at the latest. Listed below are the issues that I know that the vehicle has: Mechanical Water Pump- I believe the water pump needs to be replaced as fluid leaks out from what looks like the water pump. When starting the vehicle when cold, the temp sometimes gets fairly high but then kicks down to regular Exhaust- Hole in 1 pipe and needs catalytic converters as they rusted out and were removed AC needs to be recharged Washer Fluid doesn't work- motor runs but doesn't spray fluid Check engine light is on (pretty sure it's the o2 sensors) Low fuel light & oil pressure guage don't work because a wire was disconnected Interior Lights don't work Burns Oil Trailer lights don't fully work Drivers door lock was picked years ago Rear drivers side door doesn't lock Front passenger door can't be unlocked from outside Rear hatch doesn't always open unless back is kicked Other Issues Carpet is stained throughout vehicle Accident from 2 years ago where front grill & bumper were damaged (replaced headlight assembly) Rust has shown up on 3 wheel-wells (see pics) & on running boards- rusted through in rear left quarter panel & close on rear right quarter panel Rear hatch is dented from being hit by a trailer tounge Scratch along passenger side of vehicle Dent under rear right side-window I have listed everything that I could think and have given the most complete description of the vehicle. I am not a mechanic, so there could be other issues that are not diagnised which is why like I said earlier, please ask any questions prior to bidding as I am selling this Ford AS IS. Good Luck!
