Vehicle Detail
Hello, (In the pic of the tank, that is not a dent. Its a shadow, it was under a tree) Having one of these wonderful bikes purchased new in off the showroom floor in 1969, I decided that if I could find one it would be a time machine and bring back some wonderful memories, yeah, I know 'second childhood thing.'' I purchased this bike that was located in Baldwin, Missouri and had it shipped to my home here in Texas. I really wanted it to be a nice bike and I spent hundreds of hours and dollars replacing everything that was defective with the bike with as nice as possible or OEM if I could. The bike was disassembled down to the engine, frame, and front forks. Engine was NOT rebuilt, starts good, doesn't smoke at all, runs great. Front fender was replaced, (This bike did not have a reflector) Gators were good, headlight removed, double primed and repainted, fork ears double primed and repainted one small dent repaired, headlight ring replaced with new one, new OEM tach and speedometer, handlebars replaced and new OEM grips. Tank removed, cleaned and coated with Red Coat, new OEM petcock. Tank was not painted and has a couple of very shallow dents, hard to notice but they are there, new OEM gas cap. Carbs rebuilt, all new cables, Zeihl seat cover from Canada, all foam replaced. Side cases were removed and repainted and held up fairly well. Side covers repainted with new OEM 350 badges. Stainless bolt set. Gear shift was removed because of factory 'slop', and replaced with rigid shifter. I have the OEM, 'somewhere', New kick starter, foot pegs, rubbers, rear fender replaced, taillight bracket, lens, luggage rack, all blinker lenses. Swingarm removed bushing replaced and repacked. Center stand removed and repainted. The back sprocket was lowered two teeth and that took out most of the 'jump' and allows the engine to run about 800 RPM slower at 60. (These bikes run a 1000 rpm per 10 mph with 36T sprocket) The wiring was COMPLETELY gone through as by 1969 wiring schematic. Everything electrical works. New tires and tubes now with 1850 miles. I got the bike out today and for some reason the tank is kind of cruddy on the inside. I dont have a clue why and I'm sure that it will need to be cleaned again. The last time I had it out the float on the left carb was stuck and overflowing gas. Now the right carb drain screw is dripping a little and it will need a new battery. The bike has been covered and stored in my shop since 2005 but has been ridden the 1800 miles that are on it. Adult owned since completion and never raced, creek jumped or abused. Just puttin' country roads and waving and being stopped by people 'my age'. Overall, this bike runs great, rides great and is the center of attention everywhere. I don't know how many kids have asked me 'just where did you buy that?'. And why would I want to sell this bike? Well, at one time, I had five and this is the last one in the bucket. I have had my fun and my memories restored and now that I have retired I am moving onto my other 'love', fishing. I want to sell this bike to someone that can really appreciate the time of this great Japanese classic that stole the hearts of all young men back in the late sixties or maybe just add to your collection. I'm done riding. This bike will need very minimal work to say the least to run again like the street champ it is. I had my fun and its time to move on. Bike will come with: Brand new OEM exhaust pipe, heat shield and collector shield never installed-OEM speedometer, two brand new fork ears,primered-two starters-brand new gold O-ring chain, three carb rebuild kits, two engines (one off a 1974 CB-one 1968 Scrambler); spokes sets and I'll box up every useable part that I have and include with the bike. If I can find it, it will go!!! Clear Missoui title, owners manual, and a partial tool kit. Thanks alot!!!
