I am listing a 1960 Volkswagen split window standard bus for a friend of mine. Vehicle is located in Eugene, Oregon. This is a detailed explanation from the owner of this van...lots of info.... 1.Owned for the last 35 years. 2.Did most of the work 25 years ago which includes A.Total paint job inside and out with all the windows removed, door jams, interior, floor, dash, everything except engine compartment. B.Replaced all the rubber (window) except for the two swing out windows and front drivers and side passengers side windows. C. Installed rebuilt 40 horsepower 6 volt engine with 28 pict soltex carb.(5,000 miles on engine) D.New wheel hubs(Only 1,000 miles on them) Everything in original working condition and working well (rear end, tranny, steering box, front end, etc.) E.From 25 years ago to 10 years ago when it was put in storage it was only driven 500 miles California vehicle, I bought in Santa Cruz, has been in Oregon 15 years. Recent work done 4-1-13 A.Rear shoes-flex hose waiting for new cylinders, rebuilt Soltex 28 pict carb.,new 6 volt battery, new Michelin 15-235 tires Negatives: The side swing out windows need new rubber. In the last few years it has started to pop out of 4th gear on the highway. A bungee cord has worked good so far to keep it in gear. One of the side stationary tinted windows is cracked. Did not hook up windshield wipers after paint job when windshield windows were removed. The original motor works and I have both the arms and linkage. Also my pink slip owners slip says 1960 on it but the ID numbers start with 58. It wasn't originally sold by the dealer until 1960. Extras: New tinted glass for the front drivers/passengers side windows (wing and 2 sliders) Never installed after paint job. Extra set of front blinker housing and lens. Custom made heavy duty tow bar. Also the odometer does not work but he believes the car has around 103,xxx miles on it but as stated earlier the engine was rebuilt and has only around 5,000 miles on it.
