Vehicle Detail

UPDATE: See more photos and video below.. taken May 21 2013 - Bottom of car, and shifting video... I bought this car about 8 years ago while I lived in Denver Colorado from an ad on craigslist. Frankly, I got lucky because the owner had very little information for me about the motor. However, this has proved to be a great motor with zero problems. About a year ago I did a valve adjustment and there were no issues with the head bolts.. I can only assume this motor had case savers installed when it was rebuilt. I also did a compression test at that time and it was well within specs (also did a leak down and noticed low leakage) I've done a few things to it to preserve it like backdated the exhaust (got rid of the California emissions exhaust). I also installed a Carrera oil cooler with a fan so now in traffic the temp stays nice and cool. I have always run Mobil one high mileage synthetic in it since I've owned it and I change the filter often. The car is resprayed close to the original color, and it was a "good" job. There are a few places the paint has lifted or cracked, which I keep clear coated, this was due to bad prep, not rust. There is NO rust whatsoever on this car anywhere; underneath or on top. I restored a 69 911, and I know where rust is. This is the first year Porsche galvanized the entire body. Paint code from car is 266-9-3 (Ice Green Metallic). I have the map pocket and armrest for the passenger door (bought used map pockets to replace worn old ones). I may get them installed before the end of auction, but will include them regardless. The transmission shifts fine but third is getting tired and requires finesse which I can demonstrate to you. it will not grind if shifted with a blip on of the throttle on shifts. (match engine speed with gearbox speed), in fact most times it wont grind if you shift normally as long as you shift slowly and let the syncros mesh up. I never "grind" at all when I drive it. Im probably overstating this issue but Id rather overstate then under. I want this car to be what you expect as much as feasibly possible without seeing and driving it yourself. UPDATE: adjusted the clutch cable and did a video today of my driving it. Check out the video below, shifts well, still requires precision, care, whatever you want to call it.. you cant slam it into gear is my point.. but shifts fine by me... didnt double clutch or anything.. love this car. The suspension is stock (with Koni dampers) but height adjusted to European specification. Any potential buyer is welcome to a pre purchase inspection BEFORE the auction ends. Must be within 40 minutes of my location and I will be happy to drive the car to the shop for a scheduled inspection (I cant wait around all day for them to do it). All fees are the buyers responsibility. Inspection can include removal of rocker covers for head stud inspection. Misc. off the top of my head information: Speedometer not working MSD Street fire ignition Tach not working (last ignition took it out, can tell you where to send it for repair or just buy a used one.. takes like 5 minutes to R&R) Driver seat has a tear (should be in a photo). I can recover in leather for another $800 or tell you how to do it for about $400. No air conditioning There is an amp with a plug for an ipod or what have you MP3 player but no head unit. The usual harley davidson sort of oil leaks if sitting more than three days. Drive it every day and it won't leak. Mechanical chain tensioners which sound like they are working fine to me 11 blade fan Pop off valve New clutch cable Turbo valve covers Trans fluid replaced within 5k miles No smoke at all from the engine on lift or acceleration (see video) Dash has cracks No acid battery installed no jack, has mini spare Original fuchs wheels painted black (see photos) headliner has has a few rips.. nobody seems to notice including myself Windshield 2 yrs old, no chips Koni shocks, rears are adjustable. rear elect defrost does not function Heat works great, the control panel has a broken piece somewhere behind the dash so you have to hold it in when you move the levers.. but I just leave it in defrost and operate the center handles to adjust temp. I modified the stock muffler so that it matches Porsches "sport muffler" (baffle cut). it has a nice growl and no annoying drone on the freeway. Will need tires soon (rather let you choose your own shoes). That's about it, I do my own work, used to race SCCA etc and built my own motors. I've never had this motor open so what's inside is a mystery. My buttometer says it's pretty close to stock 2.7l (with extra HP due to exhaust backdate). The compression says its not been messed with (which is a good thing in my opinion). The likely hood case savers have been installed is high in my opinion but I have no proof. This car is simply a fun driver and it will not let you down like other junk out there. *Note: While I tried to list every issue, there is no way I can say with 100% certainty that I listed every item on a near original 1976 classic car. You are welcome and encouraged to inspect before bidding, but this is an auction and high bigger wins with no further negotiation. Please, if you have less than 2 feedback entries contact me first before bidding and convince me you will go through with the sale if you are the high bidder.
