for sale is my 1987 xl600r. the motor runs great but I went to start it last week and it die after a couple of minutes. I put a new 200 watt generator in it at the end of last season but i suspect the cdi box needs to be replaced. I'm the 2nd owner after my dad and it has always been garaged and quite honestly not ridden very much. It only has 11k original miles. all the seals, gaskets and tires are new. I had my cousin put a new chain on it but he put it on too tight and the master link broke shearing off one of the chain guard bolts. I haven't taken the time to tap it out so in the mean time i fashioned a temporary guard. I started restoring it last season but have not had the time to finish it. With the exception to the spark issue I can guarantee the mechanical soundness of this bike since it has been my fathers since new and he maintains things very well. if the buyer is not happy with their purchase I will refund the full purchase price within 7 days. I parked it last season in good running order and started it regularly to keep it lubricated. last week it fired up and died after a couple of minutes. Nothing is seized and the valves are in adjustment. I believe a new cdi box is all it needs but my work doesn't allow me the time to tinker anymore so I would like someone who will appreciate it to have it. Staring bid is very low considering if I parted it out here on ebay I could easily get 2000 over time. Again I don't have the time for that. The title is clear and I am the 2nd owner. I Do have the chain guard but just didn't get a picture of it yet. As you can see in my other items I have a LOT of extra parts. My father was really in to the baja 1000 as an amateur rider so there is plenty of parts if you need them. if you buy the bike and want some extra parts I will be happy to part with some. Please understand that while I'm not a complete dummy it was my dad that was the mechanic of the family and he would have it running within minutes. Unfortunately he is not around anymore.
