Vehicle Detail

2nd owner for the last 35 years. Runs good - been garaged for years - driven rarely since engine overhaul less than 10,000 miles ago. New tires five years ago - almost no miles on them. Michelin XZX. Engine overhaul included new rings and pistons (still w/in the standard tolerances), Crane mid-range street cam, Thunderbird headers, Turbo Exhaust, competition clutch. And then I quit driving it. Z's run hot so I put two electric fans with a racing radiator to correct that. Now it runs great but I still don't drive it. Pioneer Supertuner with Bose speakers and a power amp - fuse blown somewhere that I haven't bothered to find. Have the springs for the rear - never put them on. Will replace the wheel cylinders on the rear brakes so it's drive away condition. The body has some minor rust in front of the windshield on the vent, and maybe one other spot. Missing the hood emblem. When I had it outside under a car cover - the sheep jumped on the roof - but a rubber hammer corrected most of that - just needs to be popped back out in one or two low spots. Bottom line is I'm older, heavier, and into creature comforts. The Z is a fast, bare bones, low car that I don't love getting in and out of anymore. Have an additional custom installed A/C behind the seats at edge of trunk deck. Combined with the standard A/C that came in the car - it's almost cool enough to drive in Texas - in April. :-) Needs the power antennae replaced - have the part - never installed. Have the OEM rear springs - never installed. Needs the black rubber on the rear right bumper. Looks OK but probably needs a repaint. I'll post more photos if asked. On Apr-17-13 at 19:39:11 PDT, seller added the following information: I shouldn't have posted the auction from work. Came home to a couple emails from y'all asking about floorpans, rust, and accidents. So I backed it out of the garage, took out the mats, carpet, padding, soundbatting, and found rust or leftover rusted floor pans. I took photos. I took photos of the two rust spots I mentioned originally. Photos of the interior, exterior, and engine. If you have ANY questions please ask me. I've had the car 35 years and may not see something anymore. It runs, stays running, transmission and engine work great. The body isn't perfect but it's ok. I haven't bothered to get a sticker on it because I don't drive it but down the road and back once every few months just to do it. Last time I got a sticker, I think the rear right SIDE LIGHT that does absolutely nothing - didn't light up. That was the only thing that didn't pass inspection. I never fixed it, never tried, never went back for the sticker. Probably needs a bulb. And the interior overhead light doesn't come on. Again, wasn't important - to me the speed and the driving is the fun and that's what it does best. The rest was stuff I'd get to someday....but didn't. I was also asked about accidents. Yes, a few. New hood, two fenders, rechromed the bumper, had the frame professionally straightened. All the body work and paint work was professionally done. I may not have kept up with the little stuff but the driving mechanism is good - when I do drive it I like to go fast and I like to be safe so the frame, engine, transmission, mounts, tirods, all work well. The brakes need those wheel cylinder kits put on and they'll be back on track. If you bid on it before I posted this info and it affects your interest in bidding - take it back - not trying to force a sale. I want this car to go to someone who wants a sound driver that needs a bit of cosmetic work. On Apr-18-13 at 06:13:58 PDT, seller added the following information: I had issues loading photos, EBAY had to help. Sorry for the delay. I'd like to put a Buyer Beware thought here. I have had the car for 35 years and to me the engine and transmission are solid. I bought the rear springs OEM, still looking for front ones because it needed them. Never put them on. I figure after the rear wheel cylinders are put on - which I haven't done - it should be road worthy enough for an inspection sticker - other than that read side light I mentioned earlier. Nowhere above did I mention the A/C is not hooked up - needs the belt put back on and probably freon. Texas is hot; Z's run hot; so mostly I tried not use the A/C because in stop and go traffic it'd start getting hot. That's why I put in the racing radiator and electric fans. But I never put the A/C back to work - because I don't drive it that much. It's a vicious circle. Since I don't drive it very often- I'd consider the effects of sitting on various rubber parts and such before you place your final bids. Oh and the window handle on the passenger door is not working right - stripped probably. But it started right up last night, went in and out of the garage just fine. :-) It's a nice car that needs a lot of minor work to make it a great car again. On Apr-18-13 at 10:44:26 PDT, seller added the following information: Due to time constraints and my outside mechanics being unavailable until next week I'm going to have to sell the car without installing the new wheel cylinders. I will include them, the racing brake fluid, and brake cleaner with the car. It's the right rear that has the leak but both should be replaced before it can be safely driven. I did get under there this morning and the rubber looks pretty good on the rear end. But work is waiting on me and doesn't care that I finally put my Z up for auction. Sorry about the change but it is the last one. I think we've covered everything else pretty well. I'm sticking with the auction because if I cancel it I won't be able to sell the car. I would probably talk myself out of it.
