Vehicle Detail

Wow, this is a time capsule if there ever was one! Has to be one of the nicest originals anywhere, and with super low miles to boot! 1966 Chrysler Town and Country station wagon with only 25,300 miles. Sold new in California and is still in California. I have posted a link to about 60 pictures of the car, so if you have any questions after looking at them, please ask. I will describe it as fully and accurately as I can. The car is totally original everything ...carpet, seats, door panels, paint, wheel covers, engine, exhaust, headliner etc. Everything on the inside is near mint. Even the dashpad is a thing of beauty ...no cracks and still soft. Seats have no holes or tears. Carpet is not worn. Headliner is excellent and not sagging. Weatherstripping is still soft and supple. Power brakes, power steering, power windows, power seats and power rear window all work. Door locks are manual. AM radio plays excellent. Mint owner's manual. Chrome bumpers are things of beauty ...still shiny and no dents. All lights and glass are good. Beautiful seat belts and buckles. Brakes still have plenty of lining on them (both front and rear are drum). The California black plates were issued on day one, and still nice and on the car, as well as the original dealer frames. The dealer has long since gone out of business. Car was heavily undercoated at either the factory or at the dealership, so there is no rust. Tires have been replaced are not original, and have lots of miles left on them. The spare tire is one of the originals, and still holds air and looks good, although I wouldn't go far on it if it had to be used. Wheel covers are very nice, but have a bit of the black trim paint starting to flake off. Just takes a bit of time and effort to make nice. So ...everything that would be hard to replace on this wagon is in excellent condition ...upholstery, door panels, dash pad, steering wheel, weatherstripping, interior panels etc. I have the original build sheet that looks like it was printed yesterday! Original certicard is also present. Okay, that's most of the good ...here is the bad. The lady that originally owned the car drove it only occasionally, so that wasn't exactly good for it. I drive it all around town here, usually ten miles or less on a trip, but I wouldn't take it on a long road trip and here's why. I think it needs a valve job because the engine has a miss in it. There are two cylinders that have lower compression than the other six, so I suspect a couple of burned valves. Engine is a 383 and runs smooth as silk until it gets under a load (like going up a hill), and then you can really tell. Does not burn any oil or smoke, and no smoke on start-up. The air conditioning and heater do not work, but the compressor kicks in when you turn on the A/C. I suspect the heater control valve is stuck, and it may also have a clogged heater core. I couldn't force compressed air through it, and couldn't get water to flow through it for heat. Consequently, I bypassed the heater core to avoid a possibility of a leak onto the carpet. The car has most of it's original paint except for the rear door on the passenger side and the left front fender. They must have been painted many many years ago, because it matches perfectly. It must have just been something minor because I see no damage at all. I had the car for several months before I even noticed it. There are a few nicks and dings here and there, but no dents or scrapes. It just needs about a day of maxium detailing to make it absolutely awesome!! It's not perfect, and it needs a little TLC, but it's damm well better than most of the other stuff you see out there on eBay and Craigslist! And that's about it for the bad stuff! If you have the time and expertise to fix the mechanical things on this car, then this can be a really good deal. I have a clear California title in my name. This is the first and the last time this car will be on eBay, because if I have to fix everything on it myself, then the price will go up accordingly. I have two other wagon projects going right now, so I'll just put this one back in the corner until I can do it justice. Please click HERE to see 60 more pictures of this great wagon! Please click HERE to see all of my other auctions! I encourage you to come see the car in person (with appointment) if you can, or send a representive to look at it. If you need additional pictures or information, just let me know and I'll get it out to you, or post it in the ad. No warranty is expressed or implied, and the car is sold "as is, where is". I require only a $200 deposit to my PayPal account. The balance is due in cash within 10 days. I can store the car up to 30 days, and I will personally drive it up on the carrier that comes to pick it up. If you have to ask your wife or your girlfriend or your mama if you can bid or buy this car, this may not be the purchase for you! Powered by eBay Turbo ListerThe free listing tool.
