This is a great opportunity to own a unique early toyota 4x4.This truck was sold new in hawaii back in 1980.It was brought over here to northern california in 1982 and has been here ever since,so it is a rust free survivor! My friend who is a 25 year toyota dealer tech brought it over here when he moved here in 82.He drove it till the early 90's and decided an upgrade was needed.He ended up upgrading to basically an 83 fully loaded sr5! He rebuilt a 22r,and added pop up pistons,balanced, blue printed the lower end, topped with a 20r head(higher compression,port polish,intake was gasket matched to the head, etc all with genuine toyota parts,smog legal header,chrome accents in the engine compartment,wrinkle finish valve cover, later 5 spd, completely rebuilt,new bearings, synchros, seals, front and rear axles all rebuilt with new 4.88 gears to take advantage of the 5 spd and tire size.It has a downey 3 inch pre runner lift with 33x 12.5 tires on alloy wheels(very nice period wheels) Also has very rare auto front locking hubs(factory toyota option)the resto also included a full interior upgrade,new custom carpet, headliner, painted dash,sr5 dash wood trim, tach, gauges, center console, tilt steering,power steering,COLD air conditioning upgraded to r134a!,custom toyota camry power door locks and alarm system.It has an old kenwood tape player! Tools behind seat, original spare tire in place. This truck has never been driven off road,ever! My friend sold it to an older gentleman in 1996 for 10k! He drove it once every couple of weeks and just enjoyed cruising around around town.It also has a custom bed topper that raises up and is spring loaded and the bed has always had a bedliner!(I lifted the bedliner and the bed is cherry dent free! So present day. this older gentleman bacame a customer of mine and I have maintained the truck the last few years always telling him if he sold it, I would love to buy it(my first truck was a 1980 4x4 when I was 16!) So he finally came in one day and asked if I wanted to buy it! So I did and now I am selling it. The issue I have here in california is it will no longer pass the stringent california smog test with the 5 gas test. It passes all tests but the 5th gas which is nox emmissions.It is due to the performance build of the engine and the higher combustion temps.I even added a cat converter(this truck is a fed truck and never came with a cat) the nox is still too high.this engine is the best running,smoothest 22r I have ever driven.I dont want to tear into it and put a stock 22r head on to pass smog!(note to california residents this will not pass enhanced areas, if you live in a non smog county you might be ok.) anyway this is great for someone out of state without these crazy california emmissions to get a great truck. The only issues with this is 2 small cracks in dash pad, lower seat needs to be redone, and the paint has some tree stains that need to be buffed and waxed, paint is nice from 10 feet but it has only been driven 20k miles since 1996 so it sat alot and the paint has been effected.Clean title on non op .no back fees ready for transfer!
