For Sale: This rare two owner 2800CS was ordered through BMW's European Delivery Program in 1971 and delivered to Michigan. There were 276 2800CS's built in 1971. It was garaged in Harbor Springs Mi., a resort town in northern Michigan. The second owner, also from Harbor Springs and Ann Arbor Mi., purchased this BMW in 1974, when it was brought to Ann Arbor. Again garaged and driven in the summers on many U.S.A. road trips for several years before being put in storage at his book manufacturing factory in 1979, the last time it was tagged. It stayed there until 2009 when it was brought to a pole barn at home due to bad surroundings at the plant. A few years ago the plan was to bring her back but the owner being in his 70's found this project, of many, too much to play with. It's time to go. It is complete. original, unmolested and not running. An absolute wonderful project for the right person. The particulars are many. It was ordered in BMW's Night Blue Metallic and has the rich tan leather interior. It has all five original alloys that need to be Wurth'd in silver. The body is very clean and original, some surface rust as noted in pictures, and a couple of right side panel dents from the plant that can easily be fixed. The bumpers, the trim, all significant areas are all perfect. The rockers are great and even the trunk compartment is extremely clean. The shock towers are very nice, no rotting at all. There are tools missing in the kit from being in the plant but there are many new unused parts included. Overall the body is very nice considering, as seen in pictures. There are pictures that include dirty storage and some after a nice handwash showing original patina. Truly a very nice and original 2800CS. The interior is again, all original. The headliner is clean and not torn, tucked as manufactured. The dash has no cracks and the wood needs to be redone but nice. the wood curves on each side of the dash can be hydrated and remounted, typical of the E9. All four doors sills are great, but again old shellac off and redoing is needed. The seats are in nice shape, all bolstered correctly and no sun damage. The guts are strong. The leather has no cracks and look good as pictured but is original and need attention. A good professional cleaning and/or "Leatherique" would make a big difference. Carpets need to be taken out and steam cleaned but look good as well. It also has all original booklets and info as noted in pictures. Unfortunately it has to go along with some other unfinished projects so a low reserve has been established at $8000.00.
