Vehicle Detail

Sorry for draggin my feet on finishing this ad. Never enough time in a day. I've had many emails and phone calls on this one. DO NOT RISK LOSING OUT. NO RESERVE. Once it sells to the highest bidder, it's GONE. I know this isn't law (click link below for values) and the prices vary from state to state. But this R model is the only wagon with NO RESERVE on ebay. Bid accordingly as I assure you, others will! http://www.kbb.com/volvo/850/1996-volvo-850/r-wagon-4d/?pricetype=private-party&vehicleid=9872&intent=trade-in-sell&mileage=124000&category=wagon&options=360844%7ctrue Hate to start off with a negative but here goes....below you can see some cracks in the "R" only spoiler. This is all my fault. In my excitement to hurry back to my shop and get the car online, I went ahead and tore up the spoiler loading it onto my car dolly. I am only one man dang it!! LOL!! NO RESERVE should cover the time to repair. No pieces missing and it's otherwise nice and solid. Yes, I have the correct plastic grill inserts in the glove box, so it's complete. As you may or may not know, these lower covers snap in and out just below the dark vinyl line. Above the hoodline shows minimal rock chips. The exterior is easily a 7+ out of 10 otherwise. 2 owner Autocheck shows one accident but the paintwork looks nice as I can't tell where it was repaired. Sorry, I'm no bodyman. Tires are pretty recent. In fact, this car, according to receipts, has had overkill tire maintenance on it, showing replacements more than regularly. Tires are quiet, smooth and vibration free on very nice factory TURBO 16" wheels. No, I don't know where the original 17" wheels went. This was typical for people to get rid of the harsher riding 17" wheels after they bought an R model. How do I know? Long conversations with Volvo technicians verify this. One of the receipts shows this replacement cost, if I remember correctly. Exterior lighting works properly. Body looks amazing after all this time. No signs of any rust or major repairs with only a tiny tiny bubble spot on the right rear quarter too small for my camera to pick up. Paint shines nicely but could still use an overall professional buff. Only a handfull of dings to be found, nearly impossible to see on white panels. Rear bumper cover has seen better days but is solid and easily repainted. Roof looks great! Below would be the largest eyesore on the entire body. A rather large dent. Like a little kid slamming his/her butt into the door too hard to shut it. I'm not sure but after about 6 tries and different angles, I was able to catch enough to point it out. The interior is easily an 8+ out of 10. It has a few thin light stains here and there but only noticable when I point them out to you, nothing obvious. 3 inch tear in the left footwell of the driver's carpet. Remember this interior is specific ONLY to the R models with the suede centers and 2 tone door panels. Billet style door sill trim is R only. 2 tone leather wrapped shiftknob with black boot. Also the steering wheel has the 2 tone leather wrapping and is nearly perfect. Dashboard is perfect. Driver's bolster looks great. The woodgrain is a lighter version only for the R models as well. Below you can see ALL the dummy lights illuminate upon startup. I believe after my 500+ miles of driving (to ensure it's reliability) the "check engine" light came on. I haven't run the codes yet, but I'm sure it's a typical minor issue, like an EVAP LEAK SMALL (gas cap) etc. Unfortunately the windshield has a large crack in it. The oddest crack I've seen in a long time, but there it is. NO RESERVE, remember?? Below, as far as I can remember, all the power items work as they should: windows, locks. BOTH heated power seats, dual climate control (AC compressor cycles but will need a recharge), sunroof, AM/FM/Tape/CD player, etc! I hate smoke and I can't see or small any signs of a former smoker. HUUUUUGGEEE Option here!! An R model with a 3rd row?? ANNNNDD the 3rd row cover pad withe complete factory floormats?? Yessssss....unseen is the complete spare setup ready for your roadtrip home. Honestly.....no BS...when's the LAST TIME you've seen a car, especially of this age and stature....be so COMPLETE?!?! I didn't even know the R model came with a 2 tone leather wrapped manual case?? This car has the regular case as well....along with the radio code card, EVERY book and card, in fact. BIG pile of Volvo Dealer records are in the right upper corner. Has to be years and years worth...oil changes, tires, AC recharges, most anything. The original window sticker and dealer printout receipt as well!! Seriously....I'm on a mission to revive any and all R spec models of Volvo in my grasp. If this car isn't potential future car show restoration material, I don't know what would be! My fave....the super clean engine compartment. As you can see below, a very recent DEALER installed Volvo timing belt replacement tag ready to go until at least 170k. Unseen is the new right lower engine mount that yours truly installed along with the aftermarket upper polyeurethane mount. Engine starts right up and runs super smooth/noise free. Even has the original oil dipstick tube label, which is usually long gone by now. I inspected the spark plugs and they are recent proper Volvo platinum versions. Oil is clean. Transmission fluid is clean. Trans operates as it should in all modes. Air filter is clean. Suspension is super quiet and tight. No noises or unusual pulling/wandering is present. The left front outer CV boot is torn, but no noises or vibrations are present. Typical for a boot to tear after this long in it's life. Super easy and cheap to replace the halfshaft (about $60 from Autozone for the entire shaft). Sorry, I just don't have the time to replace. Brakes are super strong and pulse free. They look to be very recently replaced as well. Turbo is strong and quiet. Battery is nearly new and very strong. Started every time even in the below 20 degree weather recently. I have since parked the car after logging over 500 miles on it to ensure it's reliability. The only complaints I have about the car...it's time for the typical vacuum line replacements. Being a turbo and a 96, these lines get old and brittle. While driving the car under normal power, you can feel the turbo lightly "searching" like you are up and down with the throttle. These cars are notorious for the boost control solenoid failing, either not allowing much boost or not controlling boost at all(overboost). BUT....before you replace the controller, you should replace the vacuum lines going to and from it. We are talking about $20 worth of lines and a saturday afternoon here. Nothing major but without it, the car is NOT at it's original potential. Do a search, you will see. For example, I can show you the little vacuum elbow at the turbo, is currently collapsed and soft. Heat and age...it's rubber no different than a tire or a coolant hose. Finally, I see a little oil sweat on the backside of the engine while under to inspect. It's not leaving any major spots on my shop floor overnight, but there is a small seal or similar that will need replacing. Usually a turbo draintube seal or cam sensor seal. It's not bad, but it's there...and I disclose everything I know. Otherwise no coolant leaks or overheating, in fact, it's due for a thermostat as the temp stays a hair under normal along with matching interior heat fluctuation. So...we are talking under $100 in parts here...for a piece of Volvo history...and owning a car that you rarely see let alone drive. There you have it. The potential to buy a $40,000 car for a fraction of it's original price...from the most reputable Eurocar seller on Ebay! Inspect my excellent feedbacks. BID, BUY, and DRIVE with 100% CONFIDENCE!! NO RESERVE!! GOOD LUCK and thanks for looking!! I apologize in advance if I sound like I'm scolding....but this NEEDS to be said. This vehicle is AS-IS/AS-SHOWN. The vehicle is in Illinois being sold by a dealer. There are many great affordable aftermarket warranty companies out there that will warranty nearly anything. Use them. WE CANNOT BE RESPONSIBLE for your individual state's INSPECTION or EMISSIONS compliance. I am simply trying to offer you and possibly your family a quality reliable vehicle. Like most Americans, I still can't afford a new car. I regularly sell $3000-$6000 vehicles. Mostly what I would personally drive or own. I don't know if you are buying in my state or in Virginia or California...so I HAVE to make our cars ready for the road trip. I don't know who will be driving the car. So I MUST make it ready for your teen or your job in the morning. I can only promise I do the BEST that I can with what I have and what I sell. My EXCELLENT FEEDBACKS prove it. I'm not here to rip people off. I'm also here to help so feel free to contact me after purchase for anything. Even if you have any questions about a future purchase. Also, understand that I spend many countless hours (inspecting, repairing, cleaning, taking pics and writing specific personal ads) for everything I sell...not to mention the $125 sell fee that is charged to me at the end. Please don't jack around if you don't plan to go thru with the purchase. Thanks for your understanding. Now you're at the bottom. Hopefully I've covered the main specifics of the vehicle and eased your mind. I understand that you are putting yourself or your loved ones in this vehicle. I personally have put my own mother in an 01 C70 with 185k miles(which I just roadtripped 1500miles) and I personally drove a 98 S70 with 220k miles(which I just sold)! Many of my personal friends drive cars that I have sold them. My best friend is on his 5th from me. I treat you no different. If I haven't covered any of your questions or concerns, please feel free to email or call me at 815.744.7223. My name is Eric. Also, understand that I have the right to end the auction early due to local sale. I STILL REQUIRE a $500 deposit to be made within 24hours. Use Paypal for the deposit please. Of course I understand each bidder/buyer has different payment needs (like using Bill Me Later or Credit Cards) and I will assist when possible. Sorry....no financing is available on this transaction. Please secure your own from you bank of choice BEFORE bidding. Remember....24 hours $500 deposit due....3 days for payment in FULL. Naturally I will assist in ANY shipping needs! Thank you for your interest on this NO RESERVE auction! GOOD LUCK! Venue of sale is Kendall County, Illinois. ALL BUYERS are responsible for $99 DOC fee. ALL ILLINOIS BUYERS responsible for 6.25% sales tax, $101 License Plate fee (or $30 current valid plate transfer fee), $95 Title fee. ALL COOK COUNTY (Chicago area) BUYERS responsible for 8.25% sales tax. There are about 8 other states that I (unfortunately) have to collect tax....but it's usually at a discount vs. regular in state. Vehicle is sold AS-IS/AS-SHOWN with no warranty expressed or implied. Please follow deposit and payment instructions posted. Cash in person is preferred payment. After full payment is made, you will receive vehicle (as shown/stated in this ad), title, associated paperwork and key(s). Please email or call regarding out of state pickup at local train station (Union Station-Joliet, IL) or closest airport (Midway-Chicago-MDW). I will happily assist in pickup for a fee to cover my time and fuel costs.
