Vehicle Detail

These fine Audi A6 Avant wagons are getting slim to none to be found anymore. I haven't had one in a long long time, so I was all over the opportunity to sell this one. $40,000+ this car cost new back in 1997. How do I know?? Because the window sticker is included along with all the factory manuals. Now is your chance to buy it for about 10% of it's original price! Oh...and it's NO RESERVE!! Here's the Kelly Blue Book pricing below. The used car market is stronger than ever, right now. Prices are going up and up. I promise you, if you choose not to buy now, you are only costing yourself money down the road. Especially on a car that isn't available...in fact, I'm pretty sure this is the ONLY 97 Avant available on Ebay currently. GOOD LUCK! http://www.kbb.com/audi/a6/1997-audi-a6/wagon-4d/?pricetype=private-party&vehicleid=7300&intent=trade-in-sell&mileage=159000&category=wagon&options=274470%7ctrue%7c274399%7ctrue%7c274443%7ctrue%7c274497%7ctrue%7c274478%7ctrue%7c274506%7ctrue%7c274520%7ctrue%7c274540%7ctrue The exterior of this car is an easy 7+ out of 10. It has some paintwork (the thin pinstripe is a dead giveaway) but it looks nice. Still plenty of shine with no signs of any shoddy bodywork. I didn't really see many, but at worst, there are only a handfull of dings and no major dents to be found. Audi's weren't known for rust and this car no different. No visible rust to be seen either. The biggest eyesore on the exterior is the left front corner of the bumper cover. Being plastic, it's understandable how and why it's cracked. Plus there are plenty of rockchips on the nose. Hood has minimal chips tho. Goodyear Eagle RS-As are very recent and ride on nice virbation free rims at every corner. Not sure what kind of chip this is below, but it's large. It's also tastefully touched up with matching paint that I barely noticed it until I was wiping the car down after a bath. About the only other typical eyesore..and you may not even notice it...is the rubber trim around the lower doors. It's just starting to peel away at the corners. Rear bumper cover looks nice. No damages. Minimal chips. Finally and unfortunately, the right front lens is cracked, yet no leakage, sweating, or moisture buildup. Note the driving lights below the regular beams are working. Interior is a 7+ as well. A worn carpet spot with a few stains. Leather looks to have been re-dyed at one point. The leather is solid sporting only a few small cracked areas, nothing major. Just typical wear over the years. Driver's bolster is about the only real noticable givaway to the car's age. I hate smoke and can't see/smell any signs of a former smoker. I have logged over 100 miles on this car and am currently using it to run errands until sold...to ensure it's reliability as I do on nearly all my sales. Gauges work. Power items like windows, locks, seating, heated seats(So nice on the lower back after a long day!), power mirrors, cruise control, sunroof, etc seem to be working properly. The horn does not work. The radio will need a CODE to unlock. I received it this way. Yes I scanned thru all the manuals to see if it was available but no luck. The only thing left to do is pull the radio out to see if it written on top. If so, I will post my findings. Also, the climate control seems typically finnicky, altho the A/C compressor is working, heat works, etc....more on that in my descriptions below. Rear interior looks excellent. 3rd row seating option is present and beautiful. Car also sports the optional 6 disc CD changer option complimenting the BOSE stereo/woofer system. I can't see anything this car DOESN'T have as far as options! Even has the rear window shade for the rearward riders as well as the cargo area cover/shade to keep those unwanted eyes from inspecting your personal items! Unseen is the complete spare setup intact. Above you can see the complete factory issued books/manuals along with the factory original $40,380 price tag! Yes....it will still provide 24mpg highway. I'd bet even more by today's standards in fuel. Onto the gorgeous engine compartment! Clean enough to eat off of and this is how I received the car. Note the perfect pink proper Audi anti-freeze. The oil is clean with no signs of any major oil leakage. K&N panel filter installed. I am unaware of the last timing belt change, but considering the mileage, a new one would HAVE to have been installed by now. Also note, timing belts are way easier to do on the A6 series cars versus the A4s. The A4s have to have the entire front nose removed to access the front of the engine. As you can see, the A6 have plenty of accessible room. Engine fires right up and runs smoothly. Transmission shifts as it should. Exhaust is noise free. I haven't done any sort of tune-up things to this car, altho I recommend it for history purposes. Battery is strong. AWD Quattro system is perfect. Brakes are new up front with plenty of material left out back. No pulsing or grinding. I am currently waiting for upper front strut mounts as these are worn causing a popping noise over harsh bumps. Otherwise the cars drives nice and smooth. Yes, I will be installing those BEFORE delivery to you! No worries. Now....the ONE issue plaguing the car. A worn ignition switch. This is common on nearly every Euro car out there. I see in plenty on the Volvos that I sell. Audi no different. The part is a mere $6.30 on ebay altho I am unaware of how easy or hard it is to swap (see ebay item#300869900658 to confirm the price). Basically, it's a wear and tear item. Used EVERY time the car is turned on or off. The ignition is "sticky" meaning you have to start the car and turn the key back into it's "running" position...otherwise the starter will drag or the power items won't operate properly. I have it nailed down and will show you how easy it is to operate in it's current condition. This said...if it's not in the "right position", the climate control doesn't light up...or the turn signals don't work, etc. It's not going to leave you stranded. It doesn't make the car stall. It just makes a nearly 100% electrical optioned car very finnicky. And...as you may or may not know....ALL the Audi climate control units are finnicky no matter!! This unit lights up fine. No dead pixels. But....it seems to be staying in the defrost position, yet I can turn the air conditioning on and it will start blowing cold. The next time, it may be hot until I fire up the AC again. Or the next, the temp control won't go up but only down....UHHHGG!! This is Audi, my friends! Look it up....I mentioned NO RESERVE, right?!? Finally....the car threw a "check engine" light. I ran the codes and it came up a "TPS (throttle position sensor) signal low". The car ran and drove fine so I cleared it. The light stayed off....then promptly came back on during a startup one morning (which is unusual). Technically, if the TPS is bad or worn, there should be throttle response issues...flat spots....hiccups, etc. Nothing. Again...I blame it on the ignition switch/tumbler! Seriously....fix the obvious before chasing the secondary inconsistent issues, right? Common sense repairs. Drive the car as-is and repair when you can. No worries. Sorry to nitpick the car, but I wouldn't have it any other way! Inspect my excellent feedbacks, especially on the cars I've sold. I did say this once $40k car new beautiful reliable safe car is NO RESERVE, correct?!? Awesome. BID, BUY, and DRIVE ANYWHERE with 100% CONFIDENCE!! GOOD LUCK!! I apologize in advance if I sound like I'm scolding....but this NEEDS to be said. This vehicle is AS-IS/AS-SHOWN. The vehicle is in Illinois being sold by a dealer. There are many great affordable aftermarket warranty companies out there that will warranty nearly anything. Use them. WE CANNOT BE RESPONSIBLE for your individual state's INSPECTION or EMISSIONS compliance. I am simply trying to offer you and possibly your family a quality reliable vehicle. Like most Americans, I still can't afford a new car. I regularly sell $3000-$6000 vehicles. Mostly what I would personally drive or own. I don't know if you are buying in my state or in Virginia or California...so I HAVE to make our cars ready for the road trip. I don't know who will be driving the car. So I MUST make it ready for your teen or your job in the morning. I can only promise I do the BEST that I can with what I have and what I sell. My EXCELLENT FEEDBACKS prove it. I'm not here to rip people off. I'm also here to help so feel free to contact me after purchase for anything. Even if you have any questions about a future purchase. Also, understand that I spend many countless hours (inspecting, repairing, cleaning, taking pics and writing specific personal ads) for everything I sell...not to mention the $125 sell fee that is charged to me at the end. Please don't jack around if you don't plan to go thru with the purchase. Thanks for your understanding. Now you're at the bottom. Hopefully I've covered the main specifics of the vehicle and eased your mind. I understand that you are putting yourself or your loved ones in this vehicle. I personally have put my own mother in an 01 C70 with 185k miles(which I just roadtripped 1500miles) and I personally drove a 98 S70 with 220k miles(which I just sold)! Many of my personal friends drive cars that I have sold them. My best friend is on his 5th from me. I treat you no different. If I haven't covered any of your questions or concerns, please feel free to email or call me at 815.744.7223. My name is Eric. Also, understand that I have the right to end the auction early due to local sale. I STILL REQUIRE a $500 deposit to be made within 24hours. Use Paypal for the deposit please. Of course I understand each bidder/buyer has different payment needs (like using Bill Me Later or Credit Cards) and I will assist when possible. Sorry....no financing is available on this transaction. Please secure your own from you bank of choice BEFORE bidding. Remember....24 hours $500 deposit due....3 days for payment in FULL. Naturally I will assist in ANY shipping needs! Thank you for your interest on this NO RESERVE auction! GOOD LUCK! Venue of sale is Kendall County, Illinois. ALL BUYERS are responsible for $99 DOC fee. ALL ILLINOIS BUYERS responsible for 6.25% sales tax, $101 License Plate fee (or $30 current valid plate transfer fee), $95 Title fee. ALL COOK COUNTY (Chicago area) BUYERS responsible for 8.25% sales tax. There are about 8 other states that I (unfortunately) have to collect tax....but it's usually at a discount vs. regular in state. Vehicle is sold AS-IS/AS-SHOWN with no warranty expressed or implied. Please follow deposit and payment instructions posted. Cash in person is preferred payment. After full payment is made, you will receive vehicle (as shown/stated in this ad), title, associated paperwork and key(s). Please email or call regarding out of state pickup at local train station (Union Station-Joliet, IL) or closest airport (Midway-Chicago-MDW). I will happily assist in pickup for a fee to cover my time and fuel costs.
