Vehicle Detail

Up for auction is this 1960 Cadillac Series 62 Sport Sedan "Flat Roof" with a 390 V-8, automatic transmission, air conditioning and full power. She is Arroyo Turquois with white roof and a blue and white interior. This Caddy is a true barn find and has been in the south its entire life. She was purchased new by an army captain assigned to Fort Rucker, AL who sold it in 1967 before deploying to Vietnam. The second owner was a local school teacher who used it as her driver until 1979 when the transmission began slipping in second gear. She decided to store the car in her pole barn until the repairs could be made but never got around to getting it fixed. We purchased the car from her in 2007, cleaned it up a bit and replaced the old dry rotted tires with some decent air holders. We really like the car but have way too many projects in line ahead of it and would rather see it go to someone who can give it attention now rather than it deteriorate waiting on us. The Cadillac has not been cranked since 1979. We pulled the plugs and put a nice shot of Marvel Mystery Oil down in each cylinder and have been letting that soak. The car was a daily driver for nineteen years before decommissioning so one should plan on giving her a full mechanical overhaul before putting her back in service. The body is solid but will need small patches in the lower front fenders, the driver’s foot well and the driver’s bottom corner of the rear window. The hood is junk and will need replacement, the pole barn wasn’t quite deep enough for this big old boat and the front 18 inches of the car were exposed to the elements. The leading edges of the front fenders are still very good however with just a little pitting which could be smoothed out with lead or lab metal. The inner fenders and radiator support are very solid. The rocker and quarter panels are excellent. We don’t have the correct trunk key for the car and have decided not to force it open, but from what we can see around the gas tank the trunk floor appears very solid. Whatever you find in the trunk is yours, be it gold bars, spare parts or mouse poop. We do have the ignition key for the car. The chrome is good with some light pitting. The bumpers are just now beginning to peal underneath but are good re-chroming cores with solid bumper ends. The windshield and side glass are good with only minor delamination in the bottom corners. The rear window is perfect. The upholstery is very dry but intact, we pulled the carpet due to dry rot. The headliner has some moth damage and staining from age. The exterior and interior lights work, as do the warning lamps when charged. The power seat functions fore and aft but not up and down. The wheel covers are nice, but one has some light curb damage. We have a 1960 Sedan Deville flat roof parts car that is 90% complete and it will be offered to the winning bidder of this auction at an attractive price. Restore this classic or go through the mechanics and roll this beautiful car as is. The car is complete save for the correct trunk key. Car will need to be trailered due to inoperative brakes and old tires. This Cadillac is being sold with NO RESERVE.The other vehicles in the background of the photos are not for sale! Please do not ask! This car will be sold on a Bill of Sale as Alabama does not title any car built prior to 1975. If you live in a title state, you will need the services of a title company at your own expense. This car is sold as is where is, and shipping is the responsibility of the buyer. A $300.00 deposit is due within 24 hours of auction end. Full payment is due within 3 days. Buyer will have 30 days to remove the vehicle. I realize arranging shipping can be difficult and may take longer, communication is key.
