Frame Off , bare metal component restoration Very few trucks of this vintage have received an “over-the-top” restoration like this one has. Until recently the vintage trucks of the 50’s and 60’s simply were not valuable enough to absorb the cost of a nut & bolt, frame off restoration. All that is changing and it seems like “vintage Chevy trucks” are now one of the hottest investments on the market. Having owned my share, I have always been a huge fan of these old trucks. Simply put, old trucks make people smile. Start with quality “to end up” with quality The restoration began with a HIGH INTEGRITY, low mileage, two owner, southern truck. This is the history we all dream of when searching for automotive treasure. It is truly a rust FREE truck with no high build bondo anywhere. The truck and all its components were stripped to bare metal and painted in individual pieces. This is a VERY time consuming and expensive process. If you paid a quality shop to do this level restoration it could take 1 to 2 years and cost anywhere from $50k to $100k. Although refinishing one to this level is expensive, the end result is a investment that appreciates and a finish that will last for decades. History This is a low mileage “one family owned” southern truck from Benton Arkansas. When the original owner passed away, his sister inherited the truck. It is still titled in the sister’s name. Prior to restoration the truck had only 77,510 miles and has only traveled another 410 since completion of the restoration. It was in fine original condition with its original seat cover, all original stainless, original hubcaps and even original wood bed. It had one cheap re-spray over the original white paint sometime in the late eighties (see PHOTO). It was obvious that this truck was well cared for and only saw light duty during its 48 years. In the world of old trucks, this is almost impossible to find. Performance It performs as it would have the day it was first built. You can fly in and drive it anywhere in the US with complete confidence. It has been given a 400 mile “shake down” test drive completely issue free. Everything works including the COLD air conditioning. Short-wide-bed / Deluxe cab This is the body style most sought after in this series truck. They are far less common than the step side pickups. And of course the vast majority of 1965 trucks came with a 6cly, making a V8 truck the one to have. All of that said, the QUALITY is what really makes this one special.
