Vehicle Detail
It breaks my heart but an international transfer forces the sale of this 1991 Honda CRX SI. This is one of the nicest CRX's in the midwest. 1991 is the last year of the Honda CRX Si and this is a former NOPI original category entry with honorable mention win. Frame-up restoration including meticulous professional paint job inside and out. Anthracite Metallic Black. Sunroof, Racing shocks, Stainless steel exhaust system, Five-spoke wheels, Spoiler, Tinted windows, Upgraded stereo system with subwoofer and 12-disc CD player and Viper Alarm System. This is not a high-school modified CRX. It is faithful to original factory with only tasteful and carefully-considered performance improvements. It even has a factory Honda battery. Driven with love and care. Originally a southern car from Tennessee. I have owned it since Jan. 2004 and drove it on weekends during the summer totaling less than 8,000 miles over nine years. About 1000 miles per year. Middle-aged professional. I take care of my vehicles. I owned my last CRX (first-year 1984 Si) seventeen years and sold it only because of rust. This CRX has no rust. New timing belt. All servicing up to date. All the Honda techs stop what they're doing to see this car when I bring it into the Honda dealer for servicing. Most CRX SI's, as you may know, have been abused and precious few are still on the road in this condition. This car has been loved and comes from a good home. All scheduled maintenance, Always garaged, Excellent condition, Never seen snow. No accidents. Non-smoker, Title in hand. Upgraded sound system, Very clean interior.100% rust-free. This car had originally been listed on Autotrader for $7200 prior to my move. Three different individuals made commitments to purchase, scheduled appointments to fly in but then canceled. Now, I am already transferred out of the country so please don't bid on this car if you have no feedback, if you can't afford the purchase price or if you're simply subject to flights of fancy or mercurial whims. Also would you consider picking up the buyer at the airport if they were to fly in? - jboy118706 Dear jboy118706, (a) Yes. (b) No. Re-read my listing . . . I am out of the country. Taxi from the airport to the car's location would be about $30. - mochiron1 So who would be giving the keys and title upon pick up? More info about... the type of viper system?, sub pictures?, size and make of the rims?, type of rims? how much tread left on the tires? how long ago was the paint done and also who was it done by? and what did it cost? Run and drive well through all gears? No grinding? Thanks - jboy118706 Dear jboy118706, --Title and keys? The title has been signed and notarized before I left Cincinnati. It is held, along with the keys by a trusted friend. If you are uncomfortable with the title, simply take it to the bank and ask them to inspect it before you exchange money. I guarantee the title is clean and I will refund your money if there is an issue with the title. --Viper System? I don't know the model number. It does also have keyless entry but I did not advertise that because one of the wireless fobs is not consistently working. I assume it just the battery in the fob but I am not sure. Obviously both sets of keys open and unlock the doors perfectly. One keyless fob works fine to lock, unlock the doors and the hatch back and also activates/deactivates the alarm. --Rims? Oz Wheels. I don't remember the size but they are not stock. --Tires? I estimate there is about 40% tread life on the front tires and about 60% tread life on the back tires. --Paint? The car was painted before I purchased it and I have owned it since Jan. 2004. I do not know who painted the car . . . but they were very skilled professionals. The paint job is impeccable. The Honda techs are always surprised when they look inside the engine bay and comment on its quality both inside and out. The car was never a daily driver and has always been garaged so there is no oxidation of the paint. If one looks very closely there may be a few tiny marks on the front bumper and lower front section of the hood. I think they will buff out but I will not guarantee that. --Paint Cost? I can only estimate $2500 to $4500. Perhaps more. Regardless, I am confident any buyer will be pleased with the paint. --Gears? The cars shifts flawlessly. There is ZERO grinding of the gears. --Exhaust? The exhaust, by the way, makes an intoxicating growl. It is not obtrusive, irritating or too loud. ----------------------------- Dear mochiron1, I know you haven't driven this Si much over the years, but I was curious what kind of MPG you have been getting City / Highway ? I'm looking for a clean CRX and I know they get great MPG the HF's being the best, but I've always wanted a SI for the extra HP and sportiness when needed. I'm also just looking for a weekend driver as I live close to everything and don't need to drive much. Thanks in Advance for the info and thanks for not destroying this Si like everyone else does. A fine example with tasteful mods. Best, Rob - bigo_oxes Dear bigo_oxes, MPG? To be candid, it depends on my mood. If I am delicate with the gas pedal I can approach 40mpg. More often than not, the Honda VTEC engine (and stainless steel exhaust) begs to be driven, so I would guestimate about 34 mpg overall. Highway miles are always higher. I simply love this car and I am sincere when I say I hope it will go to a good home. It deserves it. At the risk of sounding self serving, I think the 'buy it now' price is already a very fair price for this car. On Autotrader I received offers (that I rejected) from potential buyers who didn't carefully read my ad that wanted to race the car, who didn't have a garage, it was their first car, etc. Of course here on eBay I have no control over who buys the car but I can be hopeful. What else can I do? I need to sell it. - mochiron1 On Mar-12-13 at 07:45:28 PDT, seller added the following information:Q: Hello.... Would your title holder be ok going to the ohio bmv title office at the time funds are given so they can confirm the title is ready for tranfer? A: Sure. But it will be your responsibility to schedule a date during the BMV's operating hours at a time that is convenient for my title holder. On Mar-13-13 at 01:05:07 PDT, seller added the following information: From: jgra2886 To: mochiron1 Sent Date: Mar-12-13 17:02:36 PDT Dear mochiron1, I'm looking to expedite getting your car. Would you tell me what the reserve is? - jgra2886 Dear jgra2886, I'm sorry but I am invoking seller's privilege. The quickest path to the car--for one who can afford it--is the 'Buy it now' price. - mochiron1
