Vehicle Detail

Here's your chance to own a classic truck in original condition. It's very hard to find a used truck that hasn't been modified a dozen different ways. This truck has very minimal modifications, each one detailed below. You won't find extra wires running around or unexplained holes here and there. In the pictures and text below I have tried to tell everything good and bad about this truck so that you have the complete picture. If you have any questions, please contact me and I will answer. Scroll down and look at the pictures first. If you want to know more then continue reading. I purchased this Truck in September 1997 from a guy who leased it for about nine months and realized that he was in over his head. He wrote a very large check to go with mine and we bought it from Ford Financial. It has been a joy to own this truck for the last 15 years. This truck has always been for my personal use and has never been a daily driver. I bought it originally for towing my Jeep around on a trailer. The last few years for towing a 23 ft RV trailer. It has never had a fifth wheel or gooseneck hitch. Never towed anything over 9000 lbs. The bed has always had a rubber mat, so the floor still has most of the original paint left. Years of loading dirt bikes has chipped the paint on the top of the tailgate, but there are no dents and it is perfectly straight. I have tried to show every scratch and chip in the pictures below. Beyond that, the paint is amazing for a 16 year old truck. The bumpers are perfectly straight with 100% chrome still intact. The right side headlight bezel was cracked when I got the truck (see picture). Hasn't caused any problems and is hard to notice. The truck has always been in California. Pretty dry and no road salt. The interior is spotless. Not a single tear or stain on the seats. Carpet looks perfect. Always had big floor mats upfront and in the rear. No cracks in the dash, no fading from the sun. No holes drilled in the dash. One small tear in the headliner. The drivetrain has performed perfect. Engine starts quickly, runs smooth and pulls strong. I baby the transmission, regular fluid changes and watch the temperature. Stay out of OD when towing. Kept up on the coolant additive and fuel filter changes. Never anything but the stock programming. I have wanted to keep the truck as stock as possible, but a few things were lacking from the factory. I have tried to make only subtle changes to improve functionality. First, the stock transmission cooler was notoriously inadequate. I replaced it with a 12 inch plate cooler and installed a temperature sensor in the transmission pan. The sensor can be removed and serve as a drain plug since the factory did not include one. A trans temp gauge was added to a pillar pod. Since I hate drilling un-necessary holes, the pod just sits wedged between the pillar and the dash. It can be removed without a trace if wanted. Second, there are no tow hooks on the front of these trucks and it is very hard to add one with the stock bumper. My solution was the front receiver hitch. Custom made and bolted to the frame. Again can be removed for a stock look. Third, no factory tie down points in the bed. I made custom eyes on flat plates and mounted them in six places. They were zinc plated 14 years ago. They could use another trip to the platers. Fourth, the skinny stock tires are a little scary with a 7000 lb truck on soft ground. The 285/75R16D BFG All Terrains are about 1/2" taller than stock but have a much larger footprint. This set is about 24 months old and has 12-15/32nds of tread. They have 17/32nds when new. Matching spare tire with less than 100 miles on it. Fifth, I added an a CB antenna. Yes kids, there was a time before cell phones. The mount is in the middle of the front wall of the bed and the cable is visible on the transmission tunnel. The CB died year's ago and has been removed. There are no holes in the dash. Sixth, the truck came without a tow hitch somehow. I bought the highest rated 2" receiver I could find. I drilled holes in the frame for the six massive 9/16 inch bolts that hold it in place. Seventh, for towing the RV trailer I added extensions to the factory mirrors. The second triangle moves the mirror out about 8 inches. They can be returned to stock position by removing three bolts and putting the mirror back in the original hole. Eighth, The factory auto locking hubs were un-reliable. I replaced them with SuperWinch manual hubs. Ninth, the factory AM/FM Cassette will be in a box. An ordinary Sony CD deck with Aux input is in the dash. Original wiring still in place. Beyond that, this truck is all stock. Let me give a short list of things is doesn't have. Aftermarket; chips, programmers, intakes, exhausts, turbos, springs, lifts, shocks, wheels, speakers, or anything from JC Whitney. Recent service: Oil/filter change at 118,000. New serpentine belt. New fuel filter. New batteries dated Jan 2012. Transmission service at 105K. New windshield at 110K, one small chip. Things needing attention: Front brake pads are ready for replacement. Got a code for the cam sensor once at start-up. New sensor is sitting in the glove box. Rear right door lock is a little sticky, but opens on the second try. Steering wheel leather cover is getting old. Previously mentioned tie down hooks need re-plating. Original headlight lenses are getting cloudy. Missing one hubcap on the right rear. They are still available here on ebay. List of options that I found on KBB.com V8 Turbo Diesel 7.3L Automatic Transmission 4WD Off-Road Pkg XLT Pkg Air Conditioning Sliding Rear Window Power Windows Power Door Locks Cruise Control Power Steering Tilt Wheel AM/FM Stereo Cassette Alloy Wheels 4.10 Gears Included extras: Set of factory service manuals, $90 value here on ebay. Set of un-opened OEM floor mats, came with the truck but never used them. No longer available. Easily worth $200 on ebay. Weld Racing aluminum wheel if you want to replace the steel spare. 2 sets of wiper blade refills. The winning bidder must make a $500 deposit by Paypal within 48 hours. All funds must clear the bank before the title will be signed. Make your life easier and figure out how to have cash ready at the time of sale. Any bidders with less than 5 feedback must contact me immediately or their bids will be canceled. An ebay Motors auction costs me $125 whether the winner pays or not. Truck is located about 45 miles East of the Oakland, CA airport. Given the right schedule, I could pick someone up from Public Transportation (BART) and bring them to the truck. If you want to have the truck shipped, be prepared for a headache. Go to the Better Business Bureau and read up on the wonderful world of auto transport before you contract any carriers. I have a very busy schedule and will not be available to wait around for them. BTDT. Please don't hire a crook. To state what must be said. This vehicle is being sold "as is".
