Vehicle Detail
Selling for a friend. This was an actual “Barn” find a couple of years ago and has been a part time hobby project of a mechanic. With a new baby on the way, time forces the sale. The pictures are of the actual car. I do have close-up pictures if you want to see them. This can be a daily driver, a restoration project, turn it into a rally car or whatever. The Austin is currently a road worthy car ready to drive. Engine, transmission, brakes, and all electrical are in very, very good condition. Interior: Seats are in great shape, I believe they are “Pleather”. Dash has no cracks and all knobs and dials work and are very clean. Headliner is like new. Door panels like new. Windows crank (no electric in ’71) up and down. New radio equipment (approx 1200 bucks worth). Custom rear shelf has new speakers installed. Exterior: The paint is original. Spotted paint removed on driver front fender. Not sure what happened here but I assure you it will not buff out. No rust in trunk, door panels or under floor. There is no damage covered by body putty and all lines are straight and true. It is a very solid car ready to give years of trouble free service and enjoyment. Two sets of wheels, the ones in the pictures plus the originals. Two sets of tail lights, the ones on the car plus the originals. All glass is solid with no cracks or dings. Engine & Transmission: Brand new high capacity radiator with electric fan. Brand new water pump. Engine is very strong. Transmission shifts smooth and is trouble free. Suspension, Note: These Austin’s are equipped with a leveling suspension. The suspension contains four displacers that contain a hydrolastic fluid, which is a water/alcohol fluid. This car has three out of four displacers working. Unfortunately the system depends on all four working to level the car. To make it roadworthy the owner has lowered the car on “bump stops” which make it drivable and road worthy similar to driving a track car. Nothing rubs and the front wheels can be turned to steer. If you want to see the car please contact me through ebay and we will make arrangements.
