General Motors produced a total of 117,108 Trans Am’s in 1979. A total of 8,326 received desirable optional W72 L78 T/A 6.6 Pontiac 400. The W72 package this year was only available mated to a 4 speed transmission. Out of those 8,326 produced, most were Special Edition or 10th Anniversary Trans Ams. This leaves only 2,485 “regular” non t-top Trans Ams equipped with the W72 L78 T/A 6.6 Pontiac 400 / 4 speed. Thats only just over 2% of the Trans Ams produced in 1979. It is VERY rare to find a low mile, original survivor 400 / 4 Speed TA that is NOT a 10th Anniversary or Special Edition. Most people tucked away those, keeping them as future collectables. Don’t let this blue chip investment-grade 1979 Trans Am slip away! This Trans Am has been owned by one family since it was new. This particular rare Trans Am has never been more than 50 miles away from its original owner. This vehicle has never ever been shown to the public before. You can be the first! You could not duplicate this Corvette for the price. Have you seen the auction prices of these second generation Trans Am’s lately? They’re skyrocketing in value and finally receiving the respect they deserve in the collector car circle! These spotless survivors are now leading a charge up the value charts.Cars are only original once. Period. This is a true SURVIVOR!The Myan Red exterior really does shine very well for being 34 years old. It is not checking of bubbling in any areas. It has always been garaged kept since it was new. It has never ever been driven in inclement weather. There is only normal wear on its exterior. Please review all the pictures to see how nice this Trans Am really is.This Trans Ams undercarriage is extremely original, with solid and clean floorpans. The Trans Ams four speed sends power to an original 10 bolt Positraction rear end with performance oriented 3.23 gears. Up front a factory power steering system combines with the WS6 factory power 4 wheel disc brakes to provide the stopping performance. Everything under this car looks very solid. It still retains its original exhaust system including the GM mufflers and catalytic converter. The interior of this car is like taking a time machine back to 1979. The oyster seats are near perfect. The original black carpet is in excellent condition. It is topped by GM factory floor mats. The headliner is in excellent condition. The console houses a shifter that is topped with an awesome original shift knob, all in excellent condition. The dash and dash bezel is in pristine condition as well. The factory cassette tape deck is still intact. The door panels are in excellent condition. The steering wheel looks perfect. Its factory “bumpy” column is perfect. Behind the rear seats, you’ll find an original trunk that is rust free and in good shape retaining all the jack tools, stowaway spare tire and inflater canister for the spare tire.The engine bay is unmodified and very original. It has not been restored or painted etc... You can see the factory paper tags and marking still intact. In closing, finding an original investment grade car like this Trans Am don’t come up for sale very often. Most of these second generation Trans Ams have been “well used” or in most cases, abused or slapped together over the years.Call today, to put this incredible Trans Am in your garage tomorrow!
