1957 ford fairlane 500 Relisting this Nice 1957 Ford Fairlane because the buyer backed out. There were over 103 watchers and 21 bidders last time. Please, if you bid on this item, do so only if you have the money. There are no negotiations on price of car after you win. If you have to talk to someone about the car before you can make a decision to buy it please save us both time and energy. Do this before you bid. Also, you are welcome and strongly encouraged to come drive the car first. There was quite a bit of interest so I decided to lower the reserve over $3000 dollars. Has low reserve. I would like to start by saying this is a very nice 1957 Ford Fairlane 500 that I have owned for about 5 years. It is a NO RUST California dry air car. I will include the original Ford spot light that still works that is in the glove compartment. This was offered as an accessory. I will also include the original manual. Previous owner was 75 years old. I purchased this from a senior Gentleman that restored old Fords. He had a 1939 ratrod that he had fully customized and realized that he could no longer do the hard work that was required. I purchased this car from him about a year before he died. When I got it he said it was 95% done. Since then i have done quite abit of work to it. I ordered 5 new coker classic car white wall tires that have about 200 miles on them. I put dual glass pack mufflers with chrome tips in the back. I had the motor and transmission fully removed and gone through by Dans Automotive here in Highland Ca. The reason I had him do it was because these old Fords are known to leak oil in a rear main rope seal that sits between the motor and trans. I had the new rubber seal installed instead of the factory rope seal. It does not leak oil now from there. I just installed a new Edelbrock Carburator 600 cc last year. I had the car painted black and yellow which is an original color scheme that Ford used on these cars in the 50's. This is a 10 foot paintjob. Meaning it looks great from 10 feet away or more. There are a few dings from an embrella that was blown over by the wind when I had it outside. It stays in a garage 99% of the time. On closer inspection there are some runs and over runs that I can see. Most people say I am just picky as My home and other cars are very well taken care of. I just want to lay it all out here about this car. I would have it repainted to look show quality If I were the next buyer. I installed a new gas tank as the original one had small pin holes in it. I also put new straps to hold the tank in place. I found an original set of impecable perfect chromed amber fog lights that were New in the box from 1957. I had them installed a few months ago. One of the bulbs just burnt out recently. It was all professionally installed when I had the whole car rewired by allens Car electric of Highland Ca. in June of 2012. I have just installed a brand New everlast Battery. I had a new factory made Ford turn signal installed. I had all new spark plugs wires and plugs put in June of 2012. If not started for two weeks or more I have to use starter fluid in the carb. When started every few days this is not needed. The car runs great. I love to drive it as we get so many thumbs up from everyone that sees it. The reason im selling is because it is time to pass the torch on to some one else who has the time to finish it. In my opinion it still is at 95% completion. The inside needs the carpet installed and the seats recovered even though they are in great condition but they dont match the colors on the outside. They are still the original green and cream color. The floors are completly primed As was the whole car when I purchased it. We had new gauges installed inside. The three that all hotrods had and that Ford would install as an option on some cars. I HAVE THE ORIGINAL 292 FORD YBLOCK NUMBERS ALL MATCHING on a stand that I will throw in for free with the purchase of this Great American Classic Car. Now for what doesnt work. This is in no way or form a perfect car. It is 56+ years old. Since i put the new carburator on I have not had it professionaly adjusted and the car will sputter some times but not often when I turn it off. I dont know how to adjust carb. I dont have a spare rim but I have a brand new coker white wall tire that is still wrapped and ready to be put on a spare Ford rim. The radio does not work. The speedometer cable is under the car and not hooked up. It is currently wrapped around the frame on the bottom of the car. The gas gauge also does not work The factory gauge lights will light up when you turn on the lights but are not functional at this time except the turn signals which work perfectly. The factory gauges should be rebuilt. The heater fan works perfectly and will heat up the interior of the car nicely. I must add on this revision that one of the back side windows has a small crack at the base but is hardly noticable. It should be replaced...at that same window the rolldown handle is missing. Im pretty sure I have it and if I find it i will include it with the purchase. The arm rest on that same window is missing a small piece of rubber too. The front and back windshields are 5 years new.(The old guy I purchased it from had those put on). Im crying inside because I really hope I dont sell it. I am going to really miss this car. I love it and really enjoy driving it. Again, it has the 312 v8 yblock currently installed but I will include the numbers matching 292 Original Ford Yblock that I have in my Barn on a stand. I have a box full of brackets for this car that When I purchased it from the gentleman he said these brackets are worth thier weight in Gold. I will include all the extra brackets too. I have receipts and pictures about an inch thick that I will include with the car. I have done much more to it than I had space for above. Someone is going to get an awesome car. I noticed a small leak of oil from the oil pan this morning when I took the car out on a drive. Very small drip on my garage floor but there none the less. Also I broke the drivers side mirror. I still have it.
