Vehicle Detail

1970 Ford Torino Fastback (Sportsroof) 351C FMX All Original - Survivor Not a GT or a Cobra. Could be entered into shows as a survivor, depending on the rules. I am the 4th Owner The Original Owner worked at Nasa on the Gemini and Apollo (lunar lander) programs. He owned the car untill the late 90's. 351 Cleveland M code 11:0 stock compression (as rated by Ford in 1970, historically some say it was slighly overstated) Power Disc Brakes 3.25 open 9" ford differential 90% Original, including:Drivetrain, Interior, Exhaust, Mufflers, Paint, etc. There is NO body work that i can find. DEFECTS: The ONLY rust is a small hole (1/4" x 3/8") on the ledge that holds the rear window, which was treated when the rear glass was removed and resealed. Touch up paint would almost comletely hide it. (See Picture) It does not leak. The paint is worn through on the top of the deck lid where you tend to lean when you fill the gas tank. (See Picture) One spot repaint in the late 70's on the top of the driver's fender, (See Picture) and a possible repaint of the left rear corner cap, next to the tailight. THERE is NO other rust anywhere (other than descirbed above) The door jams, rockers, door bottoms, trunk, and Cowl are solid and rust free. Quarter Panels are laser straight. (See Picture) Original 351C Engine, FMX Transmission etc.. Never been apart or rebuilt. Engine was incorrectly painted light ford blue at some time in the past. The engine does not appaer to have been removed. Original Radiator, Starter, distributor, wiper motor, etc.. Alternator, Carb, and Water Pump replaced over the years. I found the original production line v-belt in the trunk. (original owner kept it as a spare) I Still have two Dec 1969 Date coded high beam lights I also have the original yellow top ignition coil. Original Spare Tire, AM radio, 1970 installed aftermarket 8 track and FM modulator. Original Carpet, package tray, door panels headliner, armrests etc... Perfect dash pad, slight fading on the instrument console chrome. All glass is original and in exceptional condition. I Have Original Invoice and Build Sheets The Seat upholstery is original, but does no match the data plate. I was told by the original owner, that: The car was ordered with vinyl bench upholstery, but arrived at the dealership from the factory with cloth. He refused delivery, and the dealership swapped the upholstery with another car on the lot when new. There is a build sheet from the "replacement" seats that supports this story. Car was special ordered without PS and AC. and with Disc brakes and Styled Steel Wheels on 1/7/70 and delivered on 1/30/70. It is drivable as is, but they should be addressed in the near future. Unrelated to that, the reserve was lowered too. No I won't say to what, but it is closer! Kevin On Feb-23-13 at 16:49:44 PST, seller added the following information: FYI to all watchers and bidders: EBAY just removed the first bidder.Evidently that bidder ID had been hacked... Crazy.
