NEWS FLASH WEDS PM 2/20/2013 JUST GOT THE TRANSMISSION UNSTUCK! CARS IS DRIVING NOW! CAR IS LOCATED IN SALEM WV! NO DELIVERY IS OFFERED BY THE SELLER! CAR IS EXPRESSLY SOLD AS-IS AND WHERE-AS WITH NO WARRANTY IMPLIED OR OTHER!Although this old 1998 Jetta has a few nicks and dings and issues, it has really been a good daily driver, and with a few fixin's it still is. Underneath all the issues the engine its-self has shown no signs of internal issues, whatsoever! I recently drove it up to New Hampshire and back without a lick of trouble. (New Years 2013.) However in January it started popping out of 4th gear. (it's a 5 speed manual) so I quit using 4th gear and was using it in 1, 2, 3, and 5th waiting for some funds to get it repaired. Another time I was up a dirt holler' and hit something that took off my muffler! Prior that the engine was cutting off and sputtering when it was below 20 degrees and some ISO-HEAT with water remover and fuel injector cleaner cleared it all up for a bit. But the sputtering comes and goes now, so I have recently replaced the mass air-flow sensor, the heat sensor, the ignition wires, the spark plugs, and the coil; ran smooth again. But a similar problem just came back.... yet NOTE: on a warm day it still purrs like a kitten! This week my idle speed just dropped off from about 800 to 600 and it started stalling on me, also sometimes when I first start it the engine revs up and dies. (Suspected throttle positioning sensor and sure enough, that's exactly the new coding in the computer! (2-18-2013) Took it in and my mechanic took it for a test drive and I forgot to tell him about 4th gear and... well now it is stuck in 4th and will not come out, as he explained it to me the handle is now loose and I need to have the trans removed from the car in order to have it fixed and that is simply too expensive for me right now so I'm going with sell it and use the cash as a down for another car. So there you have it, that's the whole story. It's got 285K miles, but the engine it's self is a champ! The tires are very good, the battery was new in 2012, the AC is COLD! and the heater is HOT!
