Normal 0 false false false EN-US X-NONE X-NONE MicrosoftInternetExplorer4 Up for sale is my favorite Jeep ever. My 1991 Grand Wagoneer. First, a little about me. I am no stranger to Wagoneers, this has to be close to number 30. I’ve been telling myself every time I sell the last one that this is it, I’m over Jeeps and that was the last one... Maybe this will really be the last one. I can tell you what makes a great Wagoneer, and what makes a crappy one. I will be brutally honest in my description of this one…..my last Wagoneer. I will tell you it’s faults, I will point out why it’s so good. I would have passed on it when I found it if it wasn’t the one I wanted to keep forever, and I wouldn’t have done some certain things to it if I would have known I’d have to sell it. Why am I selling it? $$$$$$ MONEY! I need money! Not in a desperate way to stay alive, but to put up a real fight to end a year long ongoing custody battle for my 4 kids. So, you may get a super cool Jeep for a great deal, but also you could be changing the lives of 4 small children forever…. In only a positive way! So, I am going to throw a few strange deals out there right up front….. right before telling you all about my 91 GW. If you want to just give me the $25,000 it is probably going to take to turn someone else’s fantasy world upside down, I will personally deliver (drive) this Jeep anyplace in the United States. If you have that kind of money to toss at this Jeep you can probably write it off anyway. If you want this Jeep delivered and are just the random high bidder normal guy or gal, I’m always up for a road trip if you want to pay me to deliver it. OK, about the Jeep…… It’s a 1991, the last year of the Full Size Jeep. Only 1560 produced. This one is finished in a gorgeous factory Gray Mist Metallic with the Dark Sand Interior. Some people think having a Final Edition is the ultimate, but Final Edition only meant the customer ordering the Jeep new wanted the sticker on the dash it means absolutely nothing. I’ve seen the stickers occasionally right here on Ebay. The outside Every Grand Wagoneer has been repainted at some point if it has shiny paint. Period, end of Story! I won’t make up that I just had this painted, I didn’t. My guess is that this Jeep may have been originally repainted under warranty. Nonetheless, the paint is shiny and it looks great. Not Perfect. It has a few dings and scratches, not many. The hood is the most obvious, it was dented from the inside so it has a dent coming out not in. I could almost guarantee this is from the motor mounts (notorious for breaking) falling apart. When that happens the fan hits the shroud and boom….fan shroud explodes all over the engine. It looks good, I wasn’t going to make it perfect. I want to drive it. It also has a mark beneath the gas cap on the drivers side down low by the bumper, hardly noticeable, but there. The inside The inside is in great shape, the drivers seat showing the most wear, it has a few splits and cracks. I did get estimates to redo the leather ($450 for real, thick stuff) on this seat only. There are a few other pieces I would and want to change to make it better including fixing the drivers seat, A new steering wheel cover would be nice, along with some new headliner fabric. These aren’t issues, just not perfection. The rest of the interior shows almost perfect. If you look at Grand Wagoneers a lot you will already know how rare it is to find one with the factory cargo cover. It is there and works just like it should. All the windows and locks work, they are all slow, but not broken, lack of use is usually the culprit. The mechanicals OK, so the engine out of this GW came out of another Jeep. I found it at the local wrecking yard, it had some cool parts on the outside so I gambled on it being cool on the inside too. It was supposed to have low miles, but I can’t tell you what that means. I will however tell you everything I know about it. It was supposed to have equal 130 lbs compression on all cylinders, close enough, some are 125, others 135. While it was on the stand before going into this GW we pulled the pan off and inspected the bearings, it has clevite bearings that look new, so it probably has been rebuilt within a fairly low amount of miles ago. New pan gasket and rear main seal done while it was apart. New valve cover gaskets, thermostat, all new belts, fuel pump. This engine has a Mallory Dual Point mechanical advance distributor in it along with a Edelbrock SP2P intake and 1406 carb. The points looked bad, so I had those tossed in favor of a Pertronix Ignitor 2 module, new cap, rotor, wires, and plugs. New radiator hoses too. I won’t go into too much detail about what happened with the stock motor, I’ll just tell you it had a meltdown. I didn’t care, it had 162K on the odometer anyway. I later figured out the exhaust was plugged up and all the exhaust heat was coming back up into the engine making it run lean and detonate one time too many. So, this is the part I probably would have done differently if I would have been thinking about selling it. It has NO emissions crap at all, It has a vacuum line for the power brakes, one tiny line for the vacuum operated controls inside and one for the PCV valve. The factory aircleaner is just gutted out, no flappers, not heat riser, no junk. The manifolds have been welded up where the emissions tubes go, the exhaust is 3” from the Y pipe back, it has a flowmaster muffler. It is loud! It will be too loud for some. It will run down the road at 80 mph without breaking a sweat, although you might be hunting for the next gas station. It shifts and drives like a dream, goes in and out of 4WD with the flick of a switch. I like the classic style of Grand Wagoneers, it reminds me of my Dad and has a luxury appeal. This isn’t Dad's Jeep anymore once you hear it roaring down the road. I’d love to drive it to you, maybe you’d love to fly out and drive it home? OK, some other crap that might be important. The front tires are about 25%, it could use 2 if you are going to drive it across the country. The cruise control isn’t hooked up, it did work, just needs a bracket to work again. Did you notice the factory fog light covers? Try to find these! The overhead compass and temp gauge works sometimes, less lately.I have the original distributor, ignition system, and emissions air pump if you want them. A video of it, I’m not a camera man. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eQQnShvm3Ck OK, buy this dream so I can pay my attorneys mega mortgage.Call me if you want. Gary 541-892-twenty four 08
