Vehicle Detail

Offer for auction is this very nice first year BMW R65LS. The LS models have had a dedicated cult-like following since they were first introduced - and with good reason…. For those who can get over their bigger-is-better mentality, this is a damn fun bike to ride. And with unique styling by Hans Muth, there are arguably few post-1970 BMWs that are as attractive. Collectors are starting to wake up to this fact more and more, and the LS is fast becoming a bucket list must-own bike for many BMW aficionados. Super clean - that’s about the best description I can provide for this bike. And when you consider that this machine is over 30 years old, that’s really amazing. Think about it - it would be like finding a mint condition original paint 1969 R69S in the year 2000 – I can tell you that after the mid 1980’s this got harder and harder to do, never mind 15 years later. This is a numbers-matching 1982 model. It features the more desirable Brembo front brakes, which were offered on the earlier bikes (this is #269 made, built in Nov. of 1981) before BMW switched to ATEs. As stated above, it’s in surprisingly nice condition, even the seat is mint - and the often missing & difficult to find inner fairing panels are both still in place and not cracked. This is a good running and riding bike that was last on the road about 10 months ago. That’s when I put many bikes in storage due to an upcoming move. The housing market had some say in how long that move took, but now that it’s finally getting closer I’ve been thinning out my collection to have less bikes to transport. So unfortunately it’s time to let this machine go. I’ve kept it on a trickle charge however, and even today – with the temperature struggling to break 35 degrees - it fired right up and settled into a nice idle. I tested the lights, horn, and starter, and everything works as it should. I’ve got a reserve on this bike which represents what I have in it. I have a “Buy it Now” price on here for the moment, but eBay will drop this when some number of bids are placed - so if you are at-all serious about finding a clean R65LS, think about it. Yesterday another R65LS auction ended (see link below) at almost $6,200, and all-in-all I think I’d take this bike over that one. Your choice of course - but once again, at my “Buy it Now” price you’ll have enough left over for years & years of fuel, and then some. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1983-650LS-/160968288812?_trksid=p3984.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&forcev4exp=true Please have your finances lined up before you bid, and ask all questions first too. Payment in full is required within 7 days of the end of the auction, and the bike must be picked up/shipped within 30 days of the end of the auction. Personal checks are OK, but will delay pickup/shipment. Sorry no PayPal. I do have a business address for pickup, and I will assist in any way that I can. Overseas sales are fine, but I can't help with any shipping quotes - but if a crate is required I can build one for you at cost. Good luck!
