Vehicle Detail
PORSCHE Turbo look SLANTNOSE I just finished bringing back to life this triple black Slantnose Porsche. This slant nose conversion began life as a 1977 Targa. The car is a permanent convertible, it has no top, instead a speedster covering the rear compartment area. She does have a salvage title however they're are no signs of structure damage. I have a bit of experience on this, I have restored over 60 cars and have a pretty good idea of what to look for...I believe she was a theft recovery and then turned into a slantnose. The car was sitting for years when I purchased it from the previous owner. Here is what I have completed over the last 4 months.. Engine: 2.7 S (76,585 miles)When these cars sit, the seals dry up and crack - everything starts leaking. I removed the engine and transmission to fix everything possible, Here is what was completed,Newoil return tube sealsOil cooler seals Oil pressure switchOil filterFresh 20/50 Caster oilcrank sealThermostat sealCam tower oil linesSpark plugsValve cover gasketsBreather gasketsCap,Rotor,PointsBeltAir filterAir hoseSand blasted the muffler and painted Powder coated muffler straps and a new muffler tipWhile the engine was out, all the tin was sent out to for powder coating. I then installed a new engine sound pad to prevent engine noise and cleaned the entire engine compartment.Transmission:The transmission was shifting just fine, but I did replace the following NewTransmission sealTransmission fluidClutch cableReplaced the pressure plate Clutch has 50% leftShe shifts effortlessly now . The clutch engages quickly and launches the car. Its not stiff! but very springy and smooth.Interior:The old interior was full of leaves and dirty. I removed all of it. I began by dying the upper and lower dash in black. The dash has 2 small weather cracks by the air duct , about 1/4 " If a interior piece was not correct it was replaced with something new or refurbished. The seats are a GT2 look seat and were professionally reupholstered in black leather look with red stitching to match the newly reupholstered leather steering wheel. The RSR door panels, rear quarter pieces and center council were also reupholstered. New RSR carpet installed. CD player included.New CarpetSeatsRSR door panelRSR carpet kitLeather wrapped steering wheelExterior:The car has a few spots of road wear. That's what happens when you drive a car. I did remove the front and rear hoods to repaint them as they were a bit faded. The front valance was also removed textured and repainted. All four hood shocks replaced with new shocks. The rest of the car was clayed, polished and waxed to bring back the luster of the paint. She shines and has depth in the paint, The car is about a 8 in appearance (10 being a new paint job.) The turbo flares and box rockers are steel and she is a California car,no rust. Wheels:7X15 -205/50/158X15 -225/50/15New powder coated titanium lug nutsPolished, painted wheels70% Tire tread leftBrakes:Calipers Powder coated in red911 decals 65% pad leftSteel braided lines for immediate brake response In closing "I must say this engine is a screamer and responds" even better than my 75 Carrera. Ive done my best to go through the car and right all the wrongs. Ive adjusted, replaced and fixed everything I can find. I have pages of receipts and records. She drives right and is extremely fun.
